The most awesome Universe!!!

The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible at all….
-Albert Einstein

The universe is a very big place, and I am obsessed with it. Let use see how much you are. There are several things that you can do in this contest:

Choices
1. Create a recipe for the universe. Tell me what you think truly belongs in the immensity of space.

2. Find a picture of a Nebula that you never have heard of before or write a of your favorite one andpoem about it. (Please include the picture and name of the nebula or a link to the picture).

3. For all those astro/quantum physics geeks out there (like me ), take the most intriguing aspect of it and put them into verse.

This quite a BIG task that does reguire some work, but dont't worry, I have faith in you all.

As you may have noticed, I am a man of few words, but fear not I will take poems of ever shape size and length.

Lastly the dreaded rules

1. No cursing or profane language.
2. Spelling … Don’t worry about it. I am fine with it as long as I can read it.
3. Grammar … same as spelling.
4. Absolutely NO Adult Only content, I don’t see how it could be included, but if you know how, DON’T!! You will DQ.
5. Lastly, in your Authors Note please put “SQ|_|33K, I gotz 4 jet pack!”

Please have fun with this and comment on either on of mine or another contestants poems, its not required but it is nice to do. There is no limit to the number of times you may enter.

More points will be added as sone as I get some.

Prewrites will be accepted from this point forward. 9:18PM June 16 2008.

Have a nice day.

  • Final notes:
Hello all, I hope you thought well of this contest. It was difficult to choose who earned the gold. They are all very well written, but in the case of every contest there is only one gold medal. I wish you all good luck in future contests that may come your way.

    Right up my alley

This contest is right up my alley. I love writing about quantum physics in poetry. I've been doing this since 2005. I'm a nerd, I know.
I'll have to wrack my brain to try to come up with something new, though. All I have on my page are prewrites.
    Good luck with your contest.

Are truely a nerd!! If so I Highly recommend a book by Don Lincoln called "Understanding The Universe fro Quarks to the Cosmos" , releas date was in 2004. It a bit of a read, but it full of a little past the current knoledge subatomic particles. I also recommend "Physics of the Impossible." If you are ever up for a discussion on almost any aspect of the physical and non-physical universe, I'm game.

Prewrites are now allowed. Please telll a your freinds about this Contest.

Those sounds like interesting titles. I'm more into the cosmology books about black holes and string theory. Stephen Hawking, Lee Smolin, Michio Kaku and Leon Lederman are just a few authors I have read. Are people allowed more than one poem in the contest or is one entry all a person is allowed?

Then I would have suggest the book "Faster Than The Speed of Light: The Story of a Scientific Speculation." i have yet to read it myself, but it tackles the notions that we currently think are truths. Variable light speed is very interesting. I know of more but I just can't think of them now.

"Physics of the Impossible" is right up your alley. It is written by Michio Kaku.

That Physics of the Impossible sounds like a great title. I've read Michio Kaku's book Hyperspace and wrote a poem about that theory. I think I've seen that Physics of the Impossible book at my local library. If I get some free time this summer I'll have to do some reading. Thanks for reminding me about that title.
