Uhm, well I know that I have 6 contests on the go right now but 1 is in process of judging, the other will be tomorrow and the other two only have a few people entered, as they are invite only, so no contests that I am going to judge on my own, straight off the cuff and therefore, this is my contest with such. It's going to have 26 options AND a surprise option, but first we'll go to the rules.
Rules
o1. Please label entries correctly.
o2. Put option number in AN, or you will not win.
o3. Please use legible backgrounds.
o4. You are at perfect liberity to add pictures/quotes to your poem.
o5. No more than 50 written lines preferably. This isn't a rule, but it's roughly how long I can last without getting bored. But if you can pull it off well or if you write 52 lines, I wont complain or disqualify.
o6. Please don't be mean to others here or myself, we all have our own feelings and views and have our rights to keep them.
o7. Prewrites are allowed if they pertain to the option.
o8. Prose, poetry or songs are accepted.
Now to the options, which you've guessed... are going to be alphabetically based.
1. Write about your options on adoption/abortion. Please respect others opinion on this subject. I am anti-abortion but it does not mean I will not let you win as you are pro-abortion, as that would not be fair. Maybe you don't have an opinion and don't mind either way? Tell me the pros and cons.
2. Black. Write about the colour black and how it makes you feel. Comforted, scared, lonely, enclosed? Whatever it makes you feel, write about it.
3. Closure - to you, what is closure. Or simply, when have you been given closure and if you didn't, how could you have been given it?
4. Dreams. Write about a dream of yours. Either a sleep dream, or a great wish/desire you have, but know it probably wont happen. If the former, write how it made you feel or what if would be like if it came true, this includes nightmares. If the latter, then please write about why you want that dream so much and how you would obtain it.
5. Envy. What does it feel like to want to have what someone else has? Does it make you feel powerless, or do you accept it as a basic human feeling that happens every so often. Or, who do you envy and why do you envy them. What happens to your mind and your body when you envy someone?
6. "Fragments of harpstrings" gain inspiration from that line and write a beautiful poem.
7. God. What is your image of God. What does he look like, or what does his presence feel like? Maybe you believe in more than one God, so you can focus on one of those Gods, or all of them! Just show me their physical and spiritual features. Make me really know them.
8. Horror. What's the most horrible thing that could ever happen to you. What's the worst thing, that even your nightmares couldn't touch? What would be the worst case scenario on anything! It doesn't have to be realistic, it could be a monster from mars swallowing your sister whole whilst wearing a pink tutu. That sounds pretty scary to me!
9. Innocence. What is innocence? Really, give me an expression of what innocence is, or show me someone who is innocent. I don't want anything about innocence being taken UNLESS it's only mentioned at the end as in, but she lost it as I don't want a poem about how someone is abused and hurt and crying, as that's not innocence.
10. Joy. What's the thing that would bring you the most joy in the world and, if it's already happened, what was it?
11. Kill- give me a killing. But, I don't want blood and gore. No, I want something beautiful and metaphorical. I want something expressive and full of hate, but not swearwords. I just want to feel you hating someone with every fibre of your being.
12. Lavender. Write about the colour or the scent. Anything about this beautiful scent/colour.
13. Memories. What's your best and or worst memory. Capture it in a moment like a photograph and paint it for me, with words. Make me feel as if I were there and feeling the way you felt.
14. Nature. Show me something of nature. Whether it a flower, a waterfall or a fungus growing in China. I want it to be natural and beautiful.
15. Obsession. Give me obsession. Whether with an object or a person. If an object, make me see what about it you enjoy so much and to what extent the obsession goes and if a person, give me what you do and how you act that shows it's an obsession and how far you would go to have that person/fill that person etc.
16. Photograph. Look at an old photograph, that's at least 5 years old and write about it how you can see it and remember it. Please make this powerful and personal.
17. Quote. Choose a quote of your own choosing and base a poem around it.
18. Reverse. If you could go back in time and change anything, what would it be. Or if you could go back and see something for your own eyes or meet someone, who would that be and why.
19. Shame. What does it feel like to be ashamed? What are you ashamed of doing in your life, what's your greatest regrets?
20. Tears. I want you to personfiying a tear. Write as if you ARE a tear. I want deep emotion here.
21. "Under the stars and over the sea, is everywhere I wish to be." Gain inspiration from the phrase.
22. Violence. What does violence do to you and society? How does it make you feel and what's the most violent thing you've done/someone else has done to you? Anything on violence.
23. Wrong and right. Basically, who has a right to say what is wrong and what is right? What are your beliefs on anything and whether they are wrong or right. Is there such thing as wrong or right, or is it all individual perception?
24. Xelophones, or any other musical instrument. Write about playing them, or how they make you feel when you listen to them.
25. You. Write a poem in less than 30 words, that truly defines you and your feelings/beliefs/appearance etc.
26. Zone, or plans. Put yourself into another plan. Maybe a plane of the dead? Maybe a parellel universe, or maybe you can go into a TV programme or a computer game. What happens, how do you feel? Is it scary or fun? How do you get back, or can you?
SECRET OPTION::-
message me telling me you want to do the secret option and you will be given it. Each person with a secret mission will receive a different one, for fairness purposes.
Points will go up, no doubt.
Trophies will go up, I expect.
So good luck everyone and get penning!
Oh and multiple entries are fine!
