Losing My Religion
Life is bigger
It's bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no I've said too much
I set it up
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
Every whisper
Of every waking hour I'm
Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool
Oh no I've said too much
I set it up
Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I've said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
But that was just a dream
That was just a dream

this is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands of all time. The video was protested by Catholics for its use of religious symbolism, despite REM's claims that it was not directly about religion.
the video can be found here:

Be inspired by the lyrics, song, video, title, whatever.
-Your poem does NOT have to be about 'losing religion'. Hell, I find the first line of the song inspiring.
-If you hate the song or you're one of those people who protested it, write about that. I don't care.
Just, for the love of all that's holy (no pun intended) be original. Don't use bad rhyme. Spell check and left align.
Go for it.

"Loosing?"
Does the songtitle really have too O's? I didn't know that. Hmmmmm..... -
well I could write something inspired by the title and by a quote of mine... I am indeed loosing my faith...

I LOVE this song!!! Wonderful contest theme!!!
-
Interesting - but I do not enter competitions that exclude prewriten work. If you change your mind, please let me know.

well, considering this is a contest where one is supposed to be inspired by the lyrics above, I doubt many people have pre-writes for it.
if someone did- then sure I would open it for them.

Actually, "losing my religion" is a Southern (American) term for "losing my temper" or just losing it, and it really has nothing to do with lost faith. It is about being so mad that one forgets their religion and cusses a blue streak, has a huge temper tantrum, etc.
Love the contest inspiration~~

You need to hold an equally brilliant contest again soon
