I want you to write a "Found Poem."
This kind of poem is written by taking the exact words of another author's works and combining them into something of your own interpretation.
I want you to take two or three of my poems, look through them, and compile phrases from the different works into something new. You must quote exact phrases; single words (unless they are profound in point) will not do.
You must cite which poems of mine that you utilized.
The newly created piece must be at least 10 lines and no more than 50 lines.
The title of the new piece may not be the title of one, two, or all three of the works that you have taken the phrases from. Create a new title or pull out a different phrase.
Finally, you must describe the new meaning of the Found poem. You may not cut and paste what I have written in my author comments. Also, it would be nice if you explained why you chose the poems you did.
YOU MAY ENTER A BLANK PIECE TO RESERVE A SPOT WHILE YOU'RE WRITING THE FOUND POEM. IF THERE'S MAJOR INTEREST I MAY ADD MORE PLACES.
There will be one winner.
Since I don't generally use profanity, if you find it, keep it to a minimum.
Do not twist my words into erotic fantasies. Yeah, I know we're all human beings who have certain thoughts and certain times, but don't be perverted.
I do occasionally use rhyme, but know that I'm very critical of it.
I love imagery. I always write with imagery. Don't butcher it.
Do not make my poetry Dirty-Pretty. Ick.
And don't compile phrases that together mean absolutely nothing. That's why I want you to truly explain what you mean in the new style.
You are allowed to repeat lines throughout the piece. However do not submit something that is ten lines long of a single phrase repeated. Those kind of idiotic entries will be DQed.
For the most part, I will not DQ anything.
If you have any questions, please do ask.
These poems can end up being really interesting, so be open-minded!
Good luck!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 3
- Rewards: Gold: 600, Honorable mention: 15 people
- Final notes: I wish there had been more entries to this contest, but I guess it's just not a well advertised idea as of yet.
Both of your entries were great; I think you integrated the clips extremely well. It felt fresh and new even though they were "recycled phrases", in their own right.
well done to both, sorry I didn't have enough points to award both of you.
