D is for...

So here we go; the fourth of the alphabet options contests. Five options that start with the letter ‘D’. But first, the rules.

Rules:
- Option in Notes. I know it's annoying, but still, do it!
- Length and style doesn’t matter.
- Open for multiple writes but only if they fit an option.

Options:

1. Death. What is death – and ending, a beginning, a fear, a release? I don’t really want suicide stuff though.

2. Destiny. Does it really exist? Are our lives ruled by some kind of divine fate?

3. Drugs. And also Drink, because that’s a drug when you think about it. I don’t really want poems glorifying drugs but if you can do it well go for it.

4. Dragons. I like dragons. But not just literally – what can they stand for? What do they represent?

5. Darkness. By that I don’t mean I want a ‘dark’ poem. I want something about darkness.

And just as an additional thing...dirty pretty also starts with D, so if you can write in a dirty rpetty style from any of the options - go for it!

A big thank you to jgrayson-au, M.Ridgway, nathan8, AmyPixiStix and SummerHasGone for all their suggestions.

If you’ve got any for the next rounds I’d love to hear them. And if anyone is interested in co-judging just message me - I’d appreciate a fellow judge.

Anyway, have fun and good luck!

Thanks guys for another great round of this contest. The winners were the ones that stuck in my mind and well as being pretty good poems.

Stoli will be hosting the next round, letter 'E', so if you want to enter that check out her profile for it, not mine.

Thanks again everyone for making this alphabet contest thing work.

WHY do people who set competitions with "Options" require that the option is stated in the "Author's Notes" box?. Surely if it is not obvious to which option the entry relates, it has failed in its purpose.

i do it just to make sure people have acutally read the options and have given thought as to whether their poem actaully fits. also, sometimes the options are a bit ...elusive... and it's nice to know what people started off with. not this one but other rounds have been.
      that's my reasoning.

and i hope you were'nt asking a rhetorical question.
