Points have increased due to the generous heart of the lovely Namita.
This round we are honoring the lovely Tara.

I am not Amanda
I sit with Charlie the night before he dies.
I want to let go of his hand but he will
not let go of mine, like a complicated knot
of life and death -
his room is dark, shadows hiding in shadows
and he does not want to talk.
We watch Hockey Night In Canada,
his one eye follows the puck,
the other is glass and stares towards
the clock, while I wonder when.
I'm in the blue electric recliner beside him,
happy he's not paying attention to me
because I'm crying, even though he is
a miserable, combative man to care for,
but there is peace in his presence;
a contentment in his strong grasp
that I have not felt for months
and he does not turn to look at me,
but quietly says: I love you, Amanda.

Ohhh yaaay! She is so very deserving. I can write 100 poems for her, but it still won't be enough...
