I won a PIF from Amaranthine Lover and this is my contest reply. Let your imagination run wild using the picture I have posted here. No restrictions regarding the form, style of genre of your poem. I love imagery, metaphor and hidden meanings.
Art Work: Pontianak by *luciole
Dreaded Rules:
1. The poem must be about/inspired by the picture.
2. Must give the artist credit in your Author’s Notes if you post the picture.
3. Plain background behind text; a border may be used.
4. No Reservations
5. You may use sticky caps and chat speak but I hate it so you won’t have a chance if you use it.
6. No complaining
7. Have fun
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on May 29, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 10 people
- Final notes: As with all my contests the entries are fantastic and you guys make judging so difficult. So barring perfect form, meter and rhyme I am judging heavily on the way the photo was depicted and the poems that I really like. Poetry is subjective and not everyone has the same taste so please remember your poem may have been perfect but perhaps another one pushed my button. I sincerely hope everyone had fun with this.
Gold – Pontianak: this poem is composed in perfect meter and describes both the picture and the mood I was looking for
Silver – Pontinak Delights: This is the only Terza Rima that was entered. Very unique form to use for this genre. Tough decision between gold and silver.
Bronze - My warning song!: This poet cheated! He knew that the sonnet is my favorite form and played on my soft spot. The poem is in wonderful rhyme and meter and it also paints the mood I wanted.
The HM’s are in no particular order.
Thank you all for your hard work and I hope you enjoyed writing as much as I did reading. I love you all.
