Velvet Promises

The last contest I posted was, in fact… a disaster. I got very few poems, and my gold was worth 500 so it left me fairly depressed in the end that I had so few entries. That aside, I still kind of hate it when people enter prewritten poems over and over again, even when they’ve already won trophies. I think that one or two trophies for a poem is enough, you get the point across that it’s a good poem.

I’d like to have a lot of options, but dammit, I want quality work. I know some of you out there are fantastic poets and I want to SEE the skill and determination in your work – not just something you slopped together for a quick few points. Because, heh, this contest isn’t worth just a few points. I want quality, and I want to feel your writes as if I had written them myself.

Understand that?

Good, great, grand, wondermous.

Now. Quotes;

QUOTE 1

"...And these children
that you spit on
as they try to change their worlds
are immune to your consultations.
They're quite aware
of what they're going through..."
David Bowie

QUOTE 2

“I love being bathed in the sink, such a feeling of security.”

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

QUOTE 3

“I know I'm old enough to be his mother, but when the Duck laid that kiss on me last night, I swear my thighs just went up in flames! He must practice on melons or something.”

Pretty In Pink

QUOTE 4

“Don’t think, Just do.”

My own personal friends; Dallas and Freddy

QUOTE 5

Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils ...
- Louis Hector Berlioz

QUOTE 6

"If God is the DJ, then Life is the dance floor; Love is the rhythm, and You are the music."
Unkown

Hmm… those were just a few quotes that caught my eye. Now, I don’t usually do this but IF you think you know of a quote that you would do a wonderful poem on – message me and I’ll decide whether or not to give you the okay for it.

Pictures you say? Pictures?! Art in its strongest form…

Yes… pictures… remember to tell me which one you chose in your author notes, my loves. Yes, you CAN use the one at the head of the contest.

WHEW. Well that should be enough pictures to sate your picture wanting needs.

STORY OPTION

Now, my last and final option is actually one that will take some time. I know this is AllPoetry… but I’d like you to write me a story. I want it to be fantasy, and I’ll give you a little hint on what will surely get me [I love gore, and I love romance. Ironic eh?]

If you’re choosing the story option, I don’t have very many requirements. I don’t want it to be only a few paragraphs – no good stories are. However, it can just be a short story if you’d like. If you ARE writing a story – please reserve a spot so that I know how many I’m getting and I know how long to keep the contest open.

RULES:

1) No bashing, what are we 5? No. And if you are, eh.
2) Erotica is fine but label it as such.
3) No excessive dirty pretty, please.
4) You may enter AS MANY TIMES as you wish
5) ALWAYS tell me which option you chose in your author notes.
6) I like poems of all sizes, so length is not a problem.
7) Points will be added in accordance to the quality of the poems… so if you’re looking for a lot of points – dammit, give me your best!
8) Have fun with this, I’m not as stern as I seem – promise – and I just want some good poetry to mull over and reward. So just give me your best and have fun!

Feel free to message me with your questions at any time. I will comment each entry, as I find it is appropriate to do so.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on May 29
  • Rewards: Gold: 900, Silver: 400, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 2 people
  • Final notes:
Alright lovies, I want to thank you all for entering my contest. I'm not going to lie and say this contest didn't end up pissing me the fuck off - no offense to any of you who entered because it had nothing to do with you but, I put a hell of alot of points into this contest and a shitload of options and I got 18 entries. I made SO many options because I wanted to read ALOT of poems, but hey I guess when you don't allow prewrites alot of people are just too lazy to come up with fresh writes.

So I want to thank you all for entering, this contest meant alot to me.

The Gold was rewarded to Raving Idiot (nice name) for their poem Defeating My Mother.

The Silver was rewarded to Keith Drew for his poem My Beauty It Fades.

The Bronze was rewarded to FullFathomFive for N.

The two honorable mentions, in no particular order, were rewarded to Elfin for The Fine Line and Embossed for Skyline.

You poets all did a wonderful job - especially those who won trophies and HMs. Keep up the good work and don't lost your muses!

    Britty
