the bedspread a terrible green,
the window inside
my dream. I hope to finish
neatly. What do you think
about despair? What I hate is the way
they make it small, the way they think
you can be so goddamned happy
because there are trees in the world,
or families, or two week vacations at the beach.
Some things get lost and stay lost.
This bad painting. This old TV.
This bathroom with two thin and scratchy,
uselessly small towels.
