The Allpoetry Duo: auditions

collaborative poetry is an art in itself. it's like painting a picture with another artist, layering acrylics one over the other. there are little rules that can actually define collaborative art, since the term differs in context from person to person. some poets consider collaborations should have individuality, uniquity of voice between the two poets, yet others say that true collaboration is in finding one voice that carries a message. the entrants of this contest are restricted to no specific sense.

this contest is the auditioning round for the The Allpoetry Duo challenge, a rounds contest based to test the perfect collaborators to the limit.

entrants:

if you want to enter the contest, we request you to find your respective partner and enter a poem with the following details;

- your screen-names
- your goals
- why did you enter the competition?
- fifteen lines of a collaborative poem - any subject.

judges:

if you want to be a judge, simple message me regarding the judging process. please make sure you can be completely fair and unbiased.

twelve duos will make it to the next round and the real challenges will begin. prior to your entering be sure you can take and appreciate honest critique.

rewards

the winning dup receives 5000 points.
they both have their poems published in the Ampersand e-zine.
five of their works will be suggested for spotlight.

i hope to seeing you through. good luck.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on May 23
  • Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 9 people
  • Final notes:
Hi everyone! First off, thanks for participating and I must say, I am REALLY impressed.

Secondly, congrats to the winners! You were all amazing and I loved you had the guts to participate.

I want to apologize because the Allpoetry Duo has to be cancelled. We only have four entries, so it's not really going anywhere. People are afraid to commit to ten rounds and the many people who made reservations had to cancel them anyway. So, well it's okay.

I did get extremely beautiful entries. Gold and silver were neck to neck, beautifully done and sure winners. Bronze and HM were wonderful in perspective

Thanks guys! Good luck in future endaevours! I hope to have another Rounds Contest for INDIVIDUALS - in which I will all message you in case you are interested!

Thanks again and I am truly sorry.

Interesting contest. Did you say 10 rounds? Any partner I might collaborate with would kill me before the 10 rounds were over, lol. Great idea, something a little different.

Lolxx. Yes, that's possible. *makes mental note not to let partners commit murder* I'm tuning it down to 7 ROunds actually. Well, we'll just eliminate more people at the beginning!

Oh yea, these are really fun! lolxx.
  • I can't see keeping going with my partner for 10 rounds, it's too tough an ask for me, sorry.
Maybe with some indication of what you had in mind it would hold some interest.

It's going to be rounds contests, but no worries, I'll go easy on you guys. Six days to do every round. Each round one or two people might get eliminated. See, actually I'm thinking of tuning it down to about 7 or 8 rounds by eliminating more people at the beginning. each round will be a different poem with a different assignment.

it's pretty cool, and it's really exciting to be in these challenges. especially since it's two people, the winning is double fun!
      • Sorry it's just too big a commitment, collabs require getting together for significant time and earning a living tends to take up some of that time, I'm always keen to write with my partner in these things, but won't commit to something I can't see us being able to complete. Eight unrelated contests and we may well enter a majority of them.

Is the 15 line rule strict? That elimates any formal poetry such as Sonnets and all Quatrain poetry.

no, it can be over 15 lines but not less than ten lines.
  • I'm afraid I've had to remove my reservation due to time constraints and other commitments. Please accept my apology.

I hope your contest is successful.

Any chance that you might extend the closing date, Asfand...? My partner and I've been looking for a collab contest but we're not ready yet - might be after the weekend, lolol.

  • I love how people don't read the rules. I've seen so many entries over fifteen lines.
