Calling On The Big Dogs Of AP 2008

This is the second "Big Dog" contest the first was held in 2007 I had so many Outstanding Poets enter that I wanted to hold another maybe this will be a yearly contest, last years contest was a grand contest just so very hard to judge I am hoping for the same this year. I was taken by all the talent that entered...

Last years contest was a form contest where you IM me for a form, well this year I want you to pick your own form your best, your favorite, and or both, title your poem with the form you pick...

( reserve your spot with the form as the title ) and then I will send you a prompt in which you are to write the poem.

Any questions IM me or leave it in the comment area

So let the game of talent begin !!!!

Oh this is going to be another GREAT contest I can see already, if you haven't noticed the points have been raised a donation for the competition to grow...

UPATE: I am so happy and pleased to announce that Mairi bheag will be helping me with judging see how once again I am over my head with some of the forms I do not know them all I am learning, so just to be fair that the form you enter is correct she will be helping me and if you have any question feel free to ask... Thank You Mairi bheag

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on May 27
  • Rewards: Gold: 800, Silver: 350, Bronze: 225
  • Final notes:
Judging was hard once again I have so enjoyed running this contest I do believe last years came with more Big Dogs so I would like to do is hold a second contest I be sending all of you a invite and just so you'll be thinking I am going to ask you to pick a poet you admire here on AP and invite them to come show off their talent as well... One reason I love to hold this contest is for me to learn new forms to challenge myself in writing I am pleased with all entries and what to thank you all for your time and sharing your talent hope to see all of you in the next contest to be held within th enext few days I am sorry it has taken me so long to judge but I do share the computer... Here's a note from my co-judge which I would like to thank she has been a huge help..
If you wish, please add the following to your overall comments, quoting me:

"I was very honoured to be asked to help blondone with her final selection for this contest. Everyone who entered gave us a poem that was competent and confident. In that respect you can all be satisfied with your presentations, and I thank you for sharing them. I had hoped that one or two of you were going to set me on fire, but that didn't happen. I wonder whether you were all concentrating too much on your chosen form, and forgot for a moment your own brilliance. In addition to those poems chosen by blondone (and as I write this I do not know what her final order will be), I would like to mention and commend a few more, which did strike a chord with me:

    Old Whalers' Scrimshaw Tales
    Meditating Skies
the Integration of Heaven and Earth in one container
    A prompt of peace
    Enlightened Light
William O'Connor leaves Ireland - (pity it wasn't eligible)

I hope you will all continue to write, to hone your skills, and to post here at AP, and that you will be here for the next Big Dogs contest."
