Hmmm...well I have been a little bored the last couple of days. So I have been just browsing around here. and I have noticed there is a type of structured poem that I don't see a lot of...probably because it's a little elementry...but hey it's unique and fun! gets your mind jogging. AND IT'S EASY!! so be creative!
When I first entered this sight...not even a month ago. I took a class on here on how to write a diamante.
What's that you ask...Im gonna tell you!
Intructions:
You need to choose two words. A synonym or Antonym
For example - day and night (would be an Antonym - they are opposites) and - girl and women (would be a synonym - they are similar)
(ok...so i spent a lot of time spacing these so they look like diamonds...but they didn't come out like that on the contest page..sorry)
1. synonym diamante:
girl----------------------------1ST SYNONYM WORD
naive, pretty----------2 ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE GIRL
dancing, singing, playing----3 VERBS DESCRIBING GIRL
princess, child, queen, mother--1ST 2 WORDS DESCRIBING
GIRL, LAST 2 WORDS
DESCRIBING WOMEN
working, cooking, caring-------3 VERBS DESCRIBING WOMEN
wise, beautiful----------------2 ADJ. DESCRIBING WOMEN
women--------------------------SYNONYM FOR GIRL
*verbs end in -ing!
*usually poem does not rhyme
*No sentences
EXAMPLES:
Synonym diamante:
girl
naive, pretty
dancing, singing, playing
princess, child, queen, mother
working, cooking, caring
wise, beautiful

2. Must be a diamante!!!! or it will be DQ'd
3. I am allowing prewrites as long as they fit the guidlines
4. watch where to put commas
5. usually dont rhyme; but if there is a slight rhyme, I don't care
6. You can write about anything
7. PLEASE CENTER THEM SO THEY LOOK LIKE DIAMONDS!

Yes, but "girl" and "woman" are NOT true synonyms; if they were, then the same adjectives and verbs would be equally applicable to both.
