Now, here is what you all should do.
The prompt: Look deep inside your heart. Way down deep. Now, turn all those feelings into beautiful poetry. It doesn't matter if you're on top of the world or ground into the dirt; express yourself as eloquently as possible.
The suggestions: Be abstract. Use creative metaphors. Fill your feelings with intriguing imagery. I prefer free-verse poetry, but if you absolutely have to rhyme, go ahead, I guess. But you're much freer to express yourself if you don't have to conform to a rhyme scheme.
The rules: Nothing extremely dark or gory. And no erotica, please. I mean, I may be 17 and mature enough to read it, but frankly, I don't have the desire to. And the most important rule of all: PUT YOUR NAME IN YOUR AUTHOR'S NOTES. I cannot stress this enough. I need to know if you've entered or not. It would be wonderful if all of the finalists entered, but I understand if you have an issue outside of cyberspace that prevents you from entering.
Now, go crazy!

Do you have a problem with poems about cutting? It's not like; oh, life is terrible, I spill blood with my friend the blade. I mean, having it mentioned in the poem.
