Now for something different for the weekend.
You pick the bird, what ever you want, write about it, and post a photo or link to a photo.
Those are the only rules.
You do not have to describe it, just write about it. You do have to post photo or link.
Help me enjoy my birthday (Cinco de Mayo) with a bunch of lovely poems.
I have two favorite birds…..if anyone writes about either of these birds, I will give an extra 100 points (even if they get a trophy).
You can enter up to 3 times (improves your chances of getting those extra points), but no prewritten poems.
Be sure to put the name of your bird in your authors note.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on May 6, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 11 people
- Final notes:
What a wonderful birthday I had this year. All of your poems certainly were a highlight. If any of you did not see Maa's entry (and video), I would be so thrilled if you would take a look and make a comment.
Everyone deserved a trohpy, so I added 11 honoable mentions, but the are not listed in any specific order.
My favorite two birds are the Whooping Crane and the Painted bunting. The whooping crane is on the endangered species list. I saw them when I lived in Texas. They are one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever seen. The paining bunting to me is the most beautiful songbird. I saw him in Texas as well.
Kelli Marie was given 100 points for her poem about the crane. She donated them back to the contest. Thank you, Kelli Marie.
Thank you all again, for you wonderful
entries.

Now this is a sensational idea. Everyone will be trying to guess your most favorite bird.
Good luck to all on this new bird contest. -
I used to know your favorite bird but
I forgot. Happy Birthday, Cheryl, I'll try to surprise you with a pretty poem.

Any thing you write is so appreciated. Think I will print out poems (with permission of course) and make myself a booklet.

Happy Birthday To Yoooooou
The name of my favourite bird is Cheryl
though sometimes she disguises like a clown but she’s got a kind heart and soul of a bird… Cheryl I wish you from my heart, a very happy birthday… I’ve been away hence wasn’t able to wish you in verse… Many happy returns of the day…
Here is a joke to cheer you up...
This rich man sent his bird to a special school to learn foreign languages at an immense expense… when the bird returned after completing the course, the man asked the bird to speak in a foreign language to prove that his money wasn't wasted… The bird went closer to his ear and Chirped “Oink Oink”

thank you so much for your generosity of awarding a golden cup of abundance to maa's lil poem ... I must admit that I was in a rather childish mood when I wrote it, all those birdies hopping around in the trees, chirping, feeding their chicks, so the joy just flew like a river ...
I am so happy you enjoyed both poem and video ...
garuda sends you a huge chirpie ...
