Common Sandpiper
Looking for the common name only. They are found on shores and in wetlands around the globe. A wading bid.
The contest is going to be easier, with hints given or easier birds

Welcome to the new daily contest about birds. I will post a new bird every day and you have to identify the bird, IM the name to me and write about it.
I will try to get the judging done every week day and Friday’s picture will run over the weekend. I will give only three trophies and 300 points for gold. You can write any kind of poem you want and I will choose whatever strikes my fancy that day. I can tell you that I am very educated in birds, so please be accurate in your information about the bird.
You have to identify the bird correctly….of course.
Those of you, who have played my game before, will find this to be more exciting because this is a contest with points and trophies.
You MAY NOT use the name of the bird in your poem or author's notes or title. You can use similar words (use your thesaurus), otherwise you give away the name of the bird ... which is part of the fun of the contest.
I hope you write and play often.
If you are the gold trophy winner, you will be next in line to pick the bird that I feature. I will post the new contest, the night before I end the previous contest, so your pick might be a few contests later. If you get the gold, IM me right away with the bird you want me to use. Remember, if you pick the bird, you can not enter that days contest. Birds can not be too obscure, I have final say. If you have no desire to pick, I will do it.
No adult theme
Anyone who wants to donate points for the contest is welcome to do so. All my contests will be anonymous, so any points donated will not determine who wins.
I hope you enjoy the contest-----I know I enjoy having it.
Cheryl

I honestly have no clue about this bird's identity ... and no idea how to find out about it ...
I may have to check regularly and hope that one day, there will be a birdie for me to write about ...

I think I might actually know that one. Who'd have thunk it. I believe there is a poem about it on OldPoetry by Cecelia Thaxter if anyone is nosy enough to go looking.
The site has been dead for two days so good luck.

I think the bird is what we call in Afrikaans a "strandlopertjie" but now i have no idea what the English for it is, lolol!!!

I am not alone when I walk by the sea
The little bird walks the waves with me.
We are both looking for something
I search for the meaning of life,
The bird seeks what he may eat.
