Write a poem on a subject that you have never seen used in poetry. Make it meaningful.
I want a message, an opinion or something like that.
(For instance, do not just write a poem about socks, make it about something using socks to illustrate your point, or as a simile.)
Your poem can be dark, sad, happy, romantic...anything.
RULES:
1.Grammar must be correct.
2.Spelling must be correct.
3.No adult rated poetry. (I want everyone to be able to read it.)
4.No more than 40 lines.
5.Make it original to you.
6.Describe it so I can see or feel it too.
7.NO cursing.
8. Make it mean something.
I WILL RE READ ALL THE POEMS WHEN THE CONTEST ENDS TO ALLOW POETS TO EDIT IF THEY WOULD LIKE TO. ~ JOYCE

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on May 4, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: Thank you to everyone who entered my contest. I am not kidding when I say that judging was very difficult. Too many great entries.
I ranked these poems with these criteria in mind:
How much I simply liked it.
How well the subject fit the criteria.
How well the poem followed ALL rules.
I had to eliminate poems that had too many lines, had misspellings and/or grammatical errors still present after I had pointed them out.
I will be posting another contest soon, so I hope those of you who got no prize this time will enter again. ALL of you have talent and could win next go round.
Thanks for making my job so hard but my reading so easy.

Wow, this is challenging. It's something I always want to do, but never actually do. Now I think of it... every topic that pops to mind I've written about at least once
I'll have to write something for this contest.

When I said write on a subject you have never seen, I meant in anyone else's poetry.

Thanks for your comment. Joyce

I would have preferred no preexisting poems, but I realized that some people just might have one already and that intrigued me. Thanks for your comment, divebar.
