lol Would you believe this? Some people HATE hearing poetry recited. They hate ANY poetry, written by ANYONE, and listening to it makes them scream and run away with their hands over their ears.
lol I am telling you about my own family, actually.
Why don't prisons use that for torture?
This contest is writing about listening to poetry as a form of torture.

Go for it, gang...
BUT THE RULES: Nothing with erotica or language that will fry my computer, and no adult themes.
MOST IMPORTANT RULE... Have fun because why else are you here?

Laughing and offering my hand in our common bond of associating with people who mostly only want to read the comic page of the newspaper and want to listen to the nightly news.
Do they not know how amusing we are? NO!

LOL I have a daughter like this! She actually groans out loud and the funny part is that she writes beautiful poems herself.
-
Ooh.. dear.. Lol..My friends and family run when I mention anything with poetry in it..

I've never really met anyone who just would flip out or anything, people used to roll their eyes at me though.
Now a large portion of them say I need to get published.
but yet they refuse to give me money XD -
Villanelle For Our Time by L Cohen
From bitter searching of the heart,
Quickened with passion and with pain
We rise to play a greater part.
This is the faith from which we start:
Men shall know commonwealth again
From bitter searching of the heart.
We loved the easy and the smart,
But now, with keener hand and brain,
We rise to play a greater part.
The lesser loyalties depart,
And neither race nor creed remain
From bitter searching of the heart.
Not steering by the venal chart
That tricked the mass for private gain,
We rise to play a greater part.
Reshaping narrow law and art
Whose symbols are the millions slain,
From bitter searching of the heart
We rise to play a greater part.

An excellent poem you have shared with us!
I am glad WE like to hear poetry.
If I could have a poetry reading club, I would nominate you president because I think that quite surely I would love to listen to you read poetry out loud.

lol Great idea Melodies... I am not sure what is worse, those who come right out and say Umm.. Im really not into listening to poetry..can't stand it" or those who "pretend" to listen & love it

Will have to see if I can come up with something for this one.. I will turn on my wit light.. and see what happens..
Have a wonderful day!

lol You can tell if they hate listening to poetry being read, even if they say they like it because they grit their teeth when they say it and they do not move their lips. PLUS, their eyes have a glazed look.

lol
