A WALK IN YOUR GARDEN by Richard Adams, A Winkling #76.

Contest and sketch by R S Adams Jr.

But, I do not have a garden,” I hear you say.

If you look inside yourself, you have a garden. What is in it? You tell me .... Where does your imagination take you? Ah, the adventures of the mind that you could have here are many…."

We shall consider the following criteria when we select winning poems:

Among other things unique expression or qualities.

The emotions felt when your poem is read are important.

Any theme which you may develop should be significant.

Imagery should always be evocatively apt and tonally satisfying.

Write a maximum of 36 lines.

Metaphor or symbol or personification are justified but only when your piece of artistry calls for it.
Devices such as alliteration, rhythm, cadence, rhyme, assonance, vowel harmony, sibilance, paradox etc. are choices before you.

Use any genre that suits your style and subject.

[Silver, Bronze, HMs and finalists are contingent upon the quality/and number of poems entered.]

JUDGES COMMENTS: R S ADAMS JR.

I am delighted with the poems written for the contest: A WALK IN YOUR GARDEN.

Many entries captured the opportunity to venture outside the norm, as I was hoping. The picture I drew for the contest was not a ‘garden’ picture. It was an invitation to you to venture into another realm. Many poets did.

On the other hand, there are poems about the vivid adventure gained from a walk in a real garden. The images drawn there are ones of peace and nature’s beauties. This is an inspiring walk for me and other readers.

Some poems went further to talk about in depth issues and I was very pleased to read the emotional reactions there.

A wonderful collection of GARDEN POEMS.

There has been some time spent in the judging for there are two other judges from Winklers: Pamela Lamppa and Ecrivain, who have done a lot of serious work and I thank them for that.

I think the contest has been uplifting and shown insight into the imaginative responses of the entrants. I thank them for their poem.

The three judges worked together to decide upon the following trophy winners:

    GOLD - gardens of Imagination
SILVER - Wishes from a Garden Well
BRONZE - Walking in the Garden
FINALIST - My planned space for external display

Thank you all for your wonderful entries and congratulations to our winners.

Oh, I just realized this was a Winklings contest; does that mean only Winklings, or can friends play too?
Let me know, I'll delete. Thanks!
