okay, my son is 14months old...and he suffers from night terrors. a question that plauges me is what could be so terrable for a child to dream that would cause screaming fits that last for hours...they lay there eyes closed screaming in terror nothing you do comforts them...it makes me feel helpless and exausts me....and i want you to tell me what you think is going on in his head while he screams late into the night...

okay the rules are as follows...

no curseing or erotica this is suposed to be in a baby's mind

no sticky caps or chat text

try to be serious because this is a real problem for me and my son...but have fun too

    Your son...and I

I remember the days when as a toddler I was terrified by the sound of my fathers footsteps going past my door in the night. Hearing the abuse on my sister, I wondered, I knew, I was next. I don't know what is bothering your son, but it is probably right there in the home. Strange noises, dogs howling, steps creaking, etc. I wish him the absolute best. It took me over a decade to get a full nights sleep.

I pray your son finds the beauty sleep can offer.

They can study our bodies and outside occurrences as long as they want. We will never understand the psyche.

My daughter suffered through this as well for a couple of months and than it just stopped but every now and then it starts again for a night or two. One of the things that I find that really helps is a noise machine in the room. I put kind of a loud fan that hardly puts any air in her room to keep her soothed and it really helps. It blocks out other noisees and gives her something to stay focused on even in deep sleep. Best of luck and now that they do grow out of it...My daughter is 2 now.

    been there too

My 27 year old son used to have night terrors when he was that age and older. I had to remove the pictures of clowns from his room. I tried monster spray at bedtime to keep them away. I repainted his room with "monster proof paint". It was not until we were looking at new houses to buy and he saw the frame work in closets and thought it was monster traps and we agreed and that helped end the night terrors. I now know that Vitamin B would have helped because it helps to calm the brain. Omega-3's help to stop panic attacks. Also you might want to try EFT. You can download the manual for free. Having him draw himself and picking a safe color to surround himself with might help also. He can then imagine his safe color around himself when he is scared and before bedtime.skye01

    Help I hope

My son had these problems as a child, an open bottle of camphor helped eliminate them. PLaced on a closet shelf open and out of reach ofcourse. My good friend just recently experienced the same with her son and the camphor helped him. They were both able to get much needed sleep.
    Hope this helps you both.

How sad to know your little boy suffers so. I've heard of night terrors, but I've had no experience, so all I can do is give you my prayers in hopes that you and your little one will both have rest soon. God bless you. Patricia

I've had night terrors all my life so far.
I'm 17, and as sad as it sounds. I still sleep with a night light. I've had a seriously rough time dealing with them. Sometimes they go away, others they don't. Hopefully your son's will.

I don't know how much research you've done - probably a lot - but a quick check of the internet produced a lot of sites addressing this issue. Here are a few I found. I hope they help.
