Superb job Poets!!!!
I have no clue as to where to begin this week.....hehe.......as I am just totally blown away by your entries, your imagination, your efforts to rise above and beyond what was expected of you, ( Sol and Neon )....and for bringing Julie and me the best PO' contest we have ever had!
That was # 67 PO' contest, and if you were a part of it, you should be so awesomely proud of yourselves ~
....is awesomely a word????
Yes, Julie is right....if you ever read some of work, and so many of you do, please do not hold back on your HONEST opinions and critiques.....we are human too, and our skin is tough.....we can handle whatever you have to say ~
OK....Straight to your Gold Winner......and right on his butt, your Silver Winner......but first...
.......Your Gold Winner earned a total of 199.25 pts out of 200!
Way to go Sol!!!!!!!
I would have never expected you to do what you did....but a year ago when I created the PO' contest, I never expected to be awarded with so many terrific Poets and friends.....so, from the bottom of my heart.....Thank you for bringing your best and placing your best foot forward in a Challenge where you have compete against some of the best Poets around......to me, that says Winner!
Thanks Sol, and congrats Buddy!
OK.....Your Silver Winner....WHOA!!!!
Sooooo close!!!!!
With a total of 199.2 pts earned, this Poet demonstrates perfection every week and never gives half their best.......they are here to win, and win she did.....maybe not the Gold, but she is a Winner in my eyes for her relentless efforts put forth here in the PO' contests.....thank you Neon for being part of our family ~
Another toally brilliant entry from you....thank you Neon ~
Your Bronze Winner earned 198.75 pts....and I do believe that is the closest scores for the top 3 ever!
....top 6 actually!

Ya know...I have to take a breather here for just a sec.......my heart is going 100.....I am just so excited to be a part of what I believe is the best thing going right now.....and I don't say this with Pride, but with heartfelt thanks........first, to my Judge, Julie.....gosh, there is no one else I would rather have sitting in your Judges chair....no one!
I have learned so much from you and I can only say, after 10 months, you have never said no....and you have always been right where I need you, and when I need you to be there......my heart is touched by your love for the written word and for the PO' contests....it is becaue of you and our Poets that I am excited about everything I do as a Poet and Writer ~
...and for those of you who are still waiting for DestinationPoetry to open, it is coming soon.....but sometimes good things take a while.....and did I mention the Project Manager slipped up on Programming and programmed the contests wrong.....LOL....so yeah....I have to laugh it off and keep going forward.....and writing more checks to pay for their mistakes......but oh well, it will all be worth it when we go Global....SOON!!!!
Julie has said so much in her Final Notes, of what I would say as well....and so ditto on everything she said.....this is by far the best PO' contest ever.....and islekine and others, thank you for your continued Sponsorship and donations.....you are the reason the doors of the PO' contests remain open ....alive and debt free!
Sol....did you notice my review....hehe.....I tried to write as much as you with no ease, but NO WAY DUDE!!!!!!
You really came through and showed us how to take great pride and put great effort into something, if you so desire ~
....and it paid off!!
Lovely job......and if you think you can't go from Gold to not even an HM, look around....it can happen......everyone wave to ilsekine.......hehe.....but those Poets won't stay there for long. I guarantee it!

Final Notes:
Wow! What a fantastic POW! : ) I was so impressed this week by so many things...shall I list them all? : P
* Outstanding poetry on every level, and an opportunity to award a perfect 10 in grammar...which to my memory, I’ve never done before.
* Awesome interaction between poets, with the majority of you commenting on nearly, if not every, other entry.
* A wonderful showing of your abilities to meet a challenge ~ and in some very creative ways!
You guys (and gals) and Bear all make me feel so LUCKY to be a part of the PO contests, and I can't thank you enough. There was only one disappointment this week, but I'm pretty sure my thoughts on that will reflect any Bear decides to share with you. That being said, I especially want to thank each of you who read or were so graciously reminded of the rules and worked to meet this week's challenge ~ and in at least a couple of cases ~ used it as a tool to inspire some wonderfully creative poems.
A standing ovation to Thoughts-of-Soloman for going above and beyond what Bear and I would ever expect 2 lines of banned E's to inspire!
NeonRose also used the twist in our rules as a spring-board to remind us all of the little things in life that are so important...including E’s. : P Kudos!
Many of you who join us on a regular basis have commented on my poetry. I want to tell you that while it is by no means necessary or expected, I really do appreciate it, and it always makes me smile. But if you do comment...don’t be afraid to share your honest opinions! lol I’m not a poetry expert by any means and often haven’t taken my own advice and/or miss things. I love critiques and value ALL opinions, so don’t be afraid to share yours. I encourage that no matter whose poetry you’re commenting on, because we are all here to learn...and grow...and the best way to do that is from the individual knowledge and insights we have.
Lastly...with so much continued and appreciated support between poets, I’m sending each of you who commented on your fellow poet’s entries a tiny gift this week. (Read between the lines: don’t expect this every week! LOL) I often wish I had a scoring category for “good sportsmanship” because it’s so deserving of recognition. My “gift” comes directly from me and not the PO contests, and is just my way of saying once again...thank you.
Congrats to our winners, and wishing you all a beautiful week ahead,
~Julie

This is what happens when ..>>>>>
....you decide YOU are the Host of the PO' contests..>>>>>
Untitled
My heart grows numb with every beat
Can't stop until my work's complete
Hours and hours, I write out nightmares
Lying, releasing, all of my cares
Sweet solitude is where I stay
I pray the earth would go away
And sometimes when my pencil hits.
The paper, I will shread to bits
So what has been darkening to my dismay?
Just an untitled poem with nothing to say
I press the pencil to pure sacred white
Inverting the colors of beautiful light
Turn around felicity, and separate my mind
Take away reality, and leave it all behind
These words reflect my cold despair
Simply breathing, I just stare
Author notes
April 19, 2008... I write poetry that reflects my mood. This is what the poem is about. The sadness of the words makes me happier.
*PO' Contest*
My comment and thoughts...>>>>
Hi there ~
Well, you're right Amanda.....that Rule wasn't there the last time you were here, and that is why we encourage each Poet to read the Rules every week, as we change them around to keep the entrants on their toes, as well as keep variety in the contests ~
....and since you deliberately disregarded the Rules, I have to disregard your entry ~
I'm sorry you took this approach to a contest where we take each entry VERY seriously, and we try our best to give honest and thourough reviews and critiques with each entry as well ~
You were even forewarned by your fellow Poets to edit, yet you still decided to turn a blind eye,
......be well and God bless you,
Bear ~
-
-
Hi Bear,
I'm in full support of everything you've said, and am adding my thoughts as well, which were left for the poet...
"Even though I will not be scoring your entry, I wanted to leave a short note. I felt really bad when I saw your choice to disregard one of our rules after fellow poets had pointed it out to you, because I really enjoyed your poem. Normally we deduct a point for a missed rule ~ but normally, entrants don’t purposely break one. When I know several if not most poets had to put extra time and attention into meeting the challenge Bear presented to them, I just wouldn’t feel right giving a trophy to someone who chose not to put that same effort forth.
Had it been a matter of protecting the integrity of your poem somehow, that I could have understood...but I’m afraid you’ve taken a lot of the fun out of something that was meant to be just that - a fun challenge for our poets. I also feel bad because there is another poet out there who would have loved to have your spot in a contest that only has 10 spaces...
I do hope you’ll consider joining us again, but please be sensitive to the rules which, even if you don’t think are necessary, are there for a reason.
Best wishes,
~J."
