This is my sixth contest in the series of "Seven Deadly Sins".
Your task here is to use the picture prompt and
the title of the contest to inspire you.
What I'm looking for is:
the personification of this particular sin-Avarice.
Make it come to life along with the prompt color.
Give me a poem, which catches the pure essence
of the sin and the effect of the image prompt.
It would give me great joy to see:
Metaphor,
Personification,
Word Play,
Symbology,
Creativity and Insight at work.
Dark is also appropriate for this theme.
Also-tastefully written Erotica and a sensual touch.
However I do not approve of:
Violence, Sadism,
Self mutilation,
Dirty pretty or Preaching.
All the obvious, expected rules apply-
Don't make me DQ!
I really don't want to!
The line limit start at 10 and ends at 40.
I think that this gives enough freedom
for creativity to utilize your talent.
DO NOT use the theme prompt as your title.
DO give proper CREDIT to the artist
if the image is used in your write:
"Avarice" by Marta Dahlig.
All of the entries will be commented and what is left now is to wish you all Good Luck!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on May 4, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 600, Silver: 500, Bronze: 400
- Final notes: Thank you all for entering and I am so sorry that I had to take so long with judging, but I have been doing spring cleaning and the PC was off limits for three days.
I and Blue would like to thank everyone, who entered as their entries are of exceptional quality and thought provoking that has been rare for the contest series. I am so thrilled to see greed provoke people in such a creative way. However the winners shine with intoxicating use of words, imagery and mythology.

It isn't based on the picture, but ancient records talk of the original vampire...
a queen of Transylvania who would entice young women and then after torturing them would drain their blood and bath in it...and when the authorities caught her, they locked her in one of the rooms of her castle, in which she couldn't escape and died, most ironically, of thirst.
That woman could be percieved as the most evil and greedy person this planet has ever known... -

That would be Elisabeth of Bathory

I knew it started with an "E"

I apologize if I am intruding, but serial killers are one of my passions and I thought that I could share some insight with you ... she was actually a sadist through and through and loved giving pain to others - it is documented that she was the worst the world has ever seen (as in body count) and despite the fact that she became known as 'The woman who bathed in blood' her true passion was actually dishing out pain. When she was ill, she used to send for peasant girls to be brought to her room so that she could bite them and hurt them while she was in bed, once the peasant girls started running out in the village she was in she set her sights on the more 'classy' girls and THAT was when people started paying attention - strange how the little people always seem to suffer isn't it? ~shaking head~
Have to be honest though, despite Erzsebet Bathory's sordid past, my favourite is STILL Ed Gein ... now THAT was a freakazoid deluxe!!!
sorry, but thank you for reading my ramblings
