Human Statue of Liberty
This is a bit of history that would have
been lost had it not been for the Internet and our ability to share
things like this.
The picture was taken in 1918. It is 18,000 men
preparing for war in a training camp at Camp Dodge in Iowa .
A gift from our grandfathers. ..

I have reason to believe that my Grandfather was in this picture. Perhaps yours was too.
All pertinent rules apply. Watch your spelling, grammar and punctuation. I want poems, not nonsense, and no prose chopped up into lines to look like a poem. No bashing of anybody or anything, whether you have the right on your side or not. Also no profanity.
Keep in mind that this is the 21st Century. Archaic language won't be liable to get you anywhere.
I prefer rhyme, of course, but a good free verse poem will be acceptable. Something positive would be nice. I'm a bit tired of all the negativity in the world nowadays.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 28, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 7 people
- Final notes: Well, I had hoped for a few more entries, but the ones I got were mostly all good poems, and I'm not too unhappy with the final outcome. The HM's are in no particular order, but I felt that everyone who entered deserved some recognition for taking the time and putting the effort into writing a poem for this contest. Consequently, all of the entries received a trophy.
Thanks for entering and good luck with your writing in the future.
