Hello wonderful poets. Welcome to round 5.

will be looking for poetry written
to a provided topic using a specific
poetic form and a specific poetic device.

Your topic is: Nature
Your form is: Sonnet
Your Poetic device is: alliteration

Ok, You are off and running.
Remember, too much alliteration
is not always good alliteration.
But you guys knew that.

THE RULES:

1. Proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation will count
2. Please, no sticky caps
3. No cutting, suicide, or self-mutilation
4. No erotica, tastefully sensual is ok as long as it
fits the subject matter
5. Step out of the box and learn

OK - off you go now. Remember, it's ALL about the poetry.

Write and Learn!

ENJOY! I know we will.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on May 21
  • Rewards: Gold: 5000, Silver: 3000, Bronze: 2000
  • Final notes:
It comes now to the end of round five for NO GREENS.

All of you have written wonderful sonnets to your nature theme using alliteration. It seems everyone has stepped it up a notch for this round making our decisions tough ones. But, it wouldn't be right not to make your hosts deliberate, hem and haw, think and
    re-think.

We do thank you for that

But, alas, we must come to an end and begin by saying farewell to three poets who leave us in excellent literary standing. We are sad to see them go but know that they will continue to grace us with their wonderful poetry outside of this competition on AP and
    in the poetry community.

    Today, we say goodbye to:

    yaong
    Swan Song
    Frozentearz

All three poets leave us with a standing ovation for their skill and talent. We wish them well, and will continue to follow their work as they continue to enlighten us with their work as skilled and accomplished writers.

Thank you all for your wonderful contributions and
participation in NO GREENS. You will be missed.

But the good news is yet to come as we announce the winners of round Five.

So without further ado, here they are:

GOLD - Moments within Progression by Sulfane
    SILVER - ~Wilful Water~ by Fug-azi
BRONZE - star struck by going nowhere

    Congratulations to our top three:

Round Six will be forthcoming for our remaining 6 players. Best of luck as we move on to the next round.

That wasn't the problem, it was the Iambic pentameter that blew me away
        • not all sonnets, have pentameters.
          I hate iambic!!

seems I have some research to do ..
          • I wrote my poem before I read these comments. I always write sonnets in iambic. Since I now know that you hate it, should I submit another poem?
            • oh no, not at all! I look forward to reading iambic well done. I am just not good at writing it and therefor dislike it. lol you are fine

One other question, is this nature in general or can we pick a specific item in nature .. ie a tree, a cloud or an animal.

    Cheers
  • A sonnet and alliteration - sounds like a dream contest to me. Liz
