Quirky/Off the Wall / Weird/Poetry
Welcome to my contest! I like emotional poetry with unusual descriptions. I love being able to form a great picture in my mind.
Nothing too trite or it will lose this contest. If I don't get at least five entries I will have to withdraw the contest and repost it later. If I don't get least 10 entries, I will only award the gold.
Below are two Example Stanzas of a poem. Please read, and then:
In your author notes:
(A.)
Choose two lines of the example poetry and tell me in your author notes,(briefly) what you think they mean. This is part of the contest and must be done to qualify for this contest.
The second thing you have to do is:
(B.)
1.Write a quirky poem of your own (or pre-written poems are allowed allowed, but they must follow the guide lines.)
2.Use the one below to show you what I mean by "quirky."
3.No epic poems, please
4.Grammar, spelling and punctuation count.
5.NO profanity or explicit sex.
6.Any topic that moves you.
Examples:
#1
Pasty skinned Zebra-lovers,
Sauntering up to anthill homes,
Tongue twisted faceless mates
Foundering on gritty beaches
Awash with listeria waves and flashes,
Shake their faceless cracker heads,
And find acid milk thrills a gas.
#2
Rubber dolls, in line, waiting for love
Castor oil dreams soaking their beds,
Atomic fallout pieces of beef ground mud,
Dead on arrival ambulance run foretold
In skin-shedding infamous places of old.
........................................
You may edit your poetry after it is posted here. You can change it all the way up to when the contest closes. I won't make any lasting judgments until the contest ends anyway.
Thanks for entering and good luck!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 20, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 700, Silver: 500, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: I want to thank everyone for entering this contest. There were problems with poets not following directions and/or not responding to my comments on their poems (and fixing problems I pointed out to them.) I really wanted to award prizes that I just couldn't. At any rate, I enjoyed reading all of the poems immensely!
