...When the child was a child,
It was the time for these questions:
Why am I me, and why not you?
Why am I here, and why not there?
When did time begin, and where does space end?
Is life under the sun not just a dream?
Is what I see and hear and smell
not just an illusion of a world before the world?
Given the facts of evil and people.
does evil really exist?
How can it be that I, who I am,
didn’t exist before I came to be,
and that, someday, I, who I am,
will no longer be who I am? ...

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 14
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200
- Final notes: The contest No Greens - Wim Wenders… has ended, thank you for your patience while I tried to recover from writing last minute sonnets and metered rhymes… anyway- thanks to everyone who entered, I enjoyed reading your thoughtful and excellent poems. There would have been two emerald awards in normal judging, all were trophy worthy entries; thank you…
My selections are as follows:
To Know Beautiful- Gold
Splendid was my reaction to this wonderful reflection of the ideas of desire, wanting things so near and out of reach…wonderful freeverse and creative line edits…so very well done.
Raven Rush...To Know Of Now – Silver
imagery here was very well used and a range of phrasing brought out the many textures of life casual, dramatic, ordinary, thematic... wonderful sense of internal variety here.
Angel song – Bronze
simple and accessible, and a sense of sincerity here like the wishes of an Angel…very well done.
No greens to:
Driven – no Emerald
wonderful imagery and symbolisms here, very creative allusion to the Seagull theme, the spoke and the wheel imagery was very well done in this trophy worthy poem.
In Search of I - no Emerald
very well done a thoughtful poetic treatment of the theme, searching and realization, wonderful depth of thought and style, trophy worthy poem.
I said no greens, did not say I would not honor fine work .
Heavy Feathers - not for competition-
wonderful in two languages, the weight of a wish can be heavy indeed as this wonderful poem shows in brilliant imagery and magical phrasings, sometimes as delicate as a feather, sometimes as weighty as the profound choices of life and fates- a wonderful poem…thank you.
