and your legs all white
from winter.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 14, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 600, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200
- Final notes: Judging this contest with 52 incredible entries was an almost impossible task. We went back and forth between options, i.e. awarding a 2nd set of trophies, awarding several honourable mentions, etc. In the end we decided that there are too many trophy-worthy poems and that we'll just stick to awarding the 3 main trophies - it seemed the most "fair" option, lol.
Thank you poets for your wonderful support and for providing us with GREAT entries. This really was one of my most successful (and difficult) contests ever!
Congratulations to the winners, but also to each and everyone of you for providing us with super poetry!
N & G
- To judge this contest, you need to have at least as many finalists as you have rewards. You have 3 awards but only 2 finalists.

looking forward to your entry, Trina!

Oh, love the inspiritation by Cohen and the mandate for the contest. I would like to learn how to write something that is as simply wonderful but not at all simple. Yes, there is a fine line between simplicity which has it's own complexity and something which has not. Bookmarked to read, enjoy and learn from! Good luck with the contest

-
Thanks, Yvette... you know, I know you can do this - come on... we're waiting...

Only one adjective? Why not none? A person after my own heart.
Did you know it costs about a dime (10 cents) to make a nickel (5 cents) in America? Therefore if I said adjectives are worth only a nickel, it wouldn't be true.
What's wrong with this country?

Your comment is like music to my ears, Jaden...are you a Capricorn too?

I'm your astrological opposite-- Cancer.

Aaah... my brother is Cancer too

Just asking, how many times can one enter? -
-
For now, just one entry per person, Diana...

Nic this is perfect! The short ones are my weak spot ya know.

I also happen to know that your weak spot if also your strong spot, Stacy!!

Dear Mother,
Please lighten up on the guilt.
I know about the nine months. the
sixteen hours, the episiotomy,
none of those were my idea.
Your dumb useless son... -
-
Dear Son
The pain of birth is nothing
compared to the troubles
you've caused me later on.
Now go to your room
and write a poem!!
your loving mother

And you are so good at writing short poems, Hensley - so come on in

-
Dear Britney,
please sleep with me again
with Lindsay and friends
and your head all shaved
from life with K-Fed.
Well now, what was so hard about that?

-
-
Dear Monte,
I am sure that you can think
of better women to sleep with
(again) than Britney and Lindsay.
Please consult your "other"
black book, my friend.

but i must give you a gold star for not using an adjective - or is "shaved" an adjective here, lol. Well, then it's just one - so you are one law-abiding citizen! -
-
Dear Nicolette
Monte does not discriminate --
the women he sleeps with
are the first
to say "yes",
unless two (or more)
say "yes" together
There. Now there's not even one adjective
