Exercise your Want

Describe want.

Tease it forward

toward the reader

make them

touch the very flesh of it

but do not use the word

not even once

in the body of your

Want.

Some notes:

Please take some time and thought before you plunk your words of want. For want should be simmered in, that all those served, that willingly partake, will drool for want of it.

Go for the pulse the delicate heart beat.

If I smell a hint of indifference and lust for mere points I shall oust your ass. I want some care and due attention, as all want does assuredly require thus and get.

Plenty of thought please, you are poets, that's what we do.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on April 15, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 3 people
  • Final notes:
I've based my final decision on the actual 'want' level I felt displayed. How clearly and smoothly the writer lead, showed, and intensified the reader's, this reader's, experience. There were different kinds of want, and this lead to different ways of approaching each poem . A hard contest for me to judge, but an enjoyable one to say the least. All wonderful entries that displayed thoughtful intent. I truly did enjoy each one in it's own way.

I saw your want and it is beautiful. Thank you and I applaud you all heartily.
