Spring is one of the most wrote about subjects in poetry. Don't give me trite, cliche phrases - come up with totally original ways of looking at spring. You can enter free verse or rhyming - but you will mostly be judged on originality. I love Emily Dickinson, so perhaps that gives you an idea what I am looking for (see example of my poem below). Try to have a surprise ending, or an unusual twist in what you write. I prefer short poems for this contest - 24 lines or less. Haiku's are accepted, as are sonnets, and any other style.

Old Man Winter
By Moses L. Hochstetler
The snow is melting on the hills,
The Ice is full of doubt;
The winds are blowing softer now
And less inclined to pout.
A pride of daffodils arise
To strut their frocks of green;
The birds are flying from the south
And singing for the queen.
The cows are lowing in the stalls,
The horses kick the air;
Old man winter's weak and wane,
And rocking in his chair.
Have fun, and do your very best.
