This is a very simple contest dedicated to a Friend of mine.
These words are taken from his memorial.
"Why, you do not even know what will happen
tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist
that appears for a little while and then vanishes"
[James Chap 4 V 14]
Any type of new poem is acceptable
I want you to use the passage as a prompt for a fresh poem. You don't have to use the same words just the same premise.
Style is up to you but, in deference to Eddy,
No swearing, blasphemy and
check the spelling.
Let your creative muses loose folks.
Points for Gold, Silver and Bronze and a couple of HMs too so lets see what you can do.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 24
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 150, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: This took me a little longer to adjudicate than usual. Sorry.
The winner was, in my mind, obvious but the others took some sorting.
My final decision has been made on the basis of what appeals to me and how well the offerings matched my quotation.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to accept the invitation and for allowing me to share your thoughts.
Jim
