Limericks New from Old

Write a Limerick for your Oldpoetry Poet

Below you will find a list of suggested poets.
They all appear on Oldpoetry and have a link attached.
What you have to do is write a Limerick for one of these poets OR CHOOSE YOUR OWN remembering to put their link in your author notes whether from this list or not.
You are most welcome to track down a poet of your choice to write about.

No expletives
No abbreviated words (text speech)
The poet you choose MUST be featured on Oldpoetry
place a link to the poet in your AUTHOR NOTES
Refer to their work or their biographies for details. Poetic License is of course allowed but not to the point where it offends any living descendants or family.

Go away, have a think about who you might like to write about,

then come back here and do just that.

Don't worry if there's already a poem by your chosen favourite--- go ahead and write a second or third.

Make us laugh, cry, scream in despair, pull hair out, whatever you like

2 poets together is fine too (Both poets to be listed on Oldpoetry)

Just have some fun .

Old poets are not the stuffy old people they are often mistaken for,.

Good Luck in this contest

I enjoy reading limericks, but can't write them well.
I do know some poets here who can write excellent limericks though, will send the link to them.
    Wonderful idea guys!

MariGoes sent me the link to this contest.

This looks like fun, I really like limericks (which should tell you my intelligence level right there, lol)

Hemingway looks good, he was sort of a comical character (well if I shade it right) Milne might be fun, who else? Neruda, but people love him and I'd want to make some light hearted jokes about his style so maybe it's better I don't.

  • this sounds fun and I may re visit later if I get inspired. Thanks for the opportunity and list of poets
  • so I have to comment on the contest or comment on the entries to get the points....well mainly I am just selfish and needs points to feauture my own work . Good luck with this though. lol
    • You could of course enter the contest and you could get more than enough points to feature your own work - just a thought Von - Oldpoetry
