I ran this series back in 2005 and had a great time with it so I'm going to give it another run. This contest is part I of a three part series. I will close this contest after 30 entries, 20 entries will go on to part II, and from part II 10 entries will move on to the 3rd and final round.
IMPORTANT: Do not enter unless you plan to participate in all three rounds if chosen to move on. Ideally you have the opportunity to win three trophies throughout this contest.
*** Just a little side note since there seems to be some questions with the contest title. This is NOT a contest for rap poetry, although certainly rap poetry can be entered into it as it is rhymed poetry. As I said, you pick the presentation***
Rules:
1. Poetry must be rhyming poetry ( and please, no forced rhyme)
2. Cursing must be kept to a minimum and only if important to the poem
3. No STIcKy CAps or chat lingo
4. No cutting or suicide
5. No Prewrites
That's about it, you pick the subject and presentation although I will warn you I'm not much for dark poetry unless very well written.
This is not a rule but posting comments on other contestants poetry is always appreciated as well as replying to my poetry...but it won't get you brownie points
I'm opening this for one more day in the hopes for a few more entries and to allow those who reserved a space to get their entries in.
Points:
1st place 300 points and a beautiful Gold trophy
2nd place 150 points and a nice Silver trophy
3rd place 75 points and an dull Bronze trophy
3 HMs 30 points each
Best wishes
Ruth

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 5, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 150, Bronze: 75, Honorable mention: 6 people
- Final notes: I can't say as I've ever had a more pleasing contest. The quality of the entries were amazing and I was truly impressed with the support shown to the other entries by the reading of their work. Judging was in no means an easy task as there were about 12 entries that could have taken first place in any contest. That being said, I ended up with 6 HMs because I just couldn't narrow those final ones down. Congratulations to all the winners and to those moving on. I'll post the 20 to move on here as soon as I finish here and AP allows me to see your names.
Thanks
Ruth
