Hello to all!
I got the concept for this contest from my friend Dalaney. She’s hosting contests like this at the moment, and I thought it was fun to participate in it, so I thought I’d do it as well. Basically, this will be a duel of some of my favourite poets, and I’ve paired you up two and two (this has been done at random) and I’ve then given each pair a one-worded prompt (this has also been given at random). So obviously pair 1 will write of prompt 1 and so on. The pairs are:

If anyone on the list does not wish to participate, please IM me, so that I can replace you with someone else.

So that’s it. You write a poem inspired by the prompt you’ve been given. This will only be round 1. 28 poets are participating in this one, and then out of each pair, one poet will win the duel and proceed to the next round, which will be with the same concept as this one.
Rules:
- Put your AP screen name, prompt and name of opponent in your author notes
- No chat speak
- No dirty pretty
- No prose
- Play nicely. No bashing of other poets and their work.
- You can only enter once.
- Try to comment on the other entries
So that’s about it! I will try to comment on all entries, but I will not applaud any!

You each write your individual poem about the given prompt, and you then duel/fight against the other person who's been given the same prompt. One of the two, will then proceed to the next round.

- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50
- Final notes: Hello all!
So a lot of people invited didn’t enter this one, and it annoyed me a bit that some weren’t even bothered telling me that they wouldn’t enter. But that’s not any of your faults. I wanted 14 people to proceed to the next round, and they should each be the winner of their duel. But, since some people didn’t enter, and some ended up with no opponent, I had to bend the rules a bit. The ones without an opponent proceed, since they didn’t duel anyone. I then had to let both entrants in some pairs proceed, just to get an even number for the next round. Hopefully, the next round will go easier.
I can honestly say that this is the hardest contest, I’ve ever had to judge. I’ve never been so much in doubt about who should win/proceed, and I’ve been rereading all of your poetry again and again, and almost drove myself crazy! It’s been incredibly hard, but in the end I had to make a decision. Just know, that the ones not proceeding still amazed me on many level. But I couldn’t just move completely away from my rules and the concept of the contest, so I had to do what I’ve done.
