Truth - What is it worth to you?

THE THEME OF THIS CONTEST:

In moving through many philosophical conversation, political articles and spiritual poetry, I and the people I have read, debated with or discussed these subjects with have come to the same conclusion that at the core of everything there is TRUTH. In black and white vision, it is either the truth or a lie. In gray areas of interpretation, paradigms and observation, the truth is bleary and buried by personal experience and lust for power.

Sometimes the truth is obliterated by ill intent of one or by ones who do not want you to know the truth, for if you did, their world would cease to exist, as they know it. The players, the deceivers, the liars, these are the humans that play the head games, crush your spirit and burn your soul. Then there is the deep seated darkness that takes pleasure in watching you writhe in pain, plans entire societies and books based on a lie, a falsehood or a twisted truth, just to watch you jump and see your reaction. Moreover, they hide the truth to control the destiny of many people or perhaps many nations.

Truth and Justice have absolutely nothing to do with the law or the lawyers who make them, as they put themselves above the law. (Note: 98% of politicians are lawyers)

CONTEST OPTIONS:

Use one, several or all of the following quotes from lyrics or scripts to write me a pen with passion, fortitude and conviction. Back it up with facts in history or current events.

1. "In a Universe of Justice the Eyes of Truth are Always Watching YOU." -Enigma / Cross of Change

2. "No One is above the Code of Knights, especially the King!" -Dennis Quade / Movie - Dragon Heart

Note: For The Code of Knights click on the link below:

http://allpoetry.com/poem/show/4039971

3. "Even if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." -Rush / Closer to the Heart

4. “To be or not to be that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?
To die: to sleep;
No more; and, by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd.
To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come…” -Shakespeare / Hamlet

Note: I list the above quote for I interpret the entire act of this play to be a search for truth by the troubled Hamlet.

5. Not a quote, but one word, an ideal, a value we should all live by and die for; TRUTH. What does this word mean to you?

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on April 9, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 4 people
  • Final notes:
    I had three pens that qualified as Gold, two that qualified as Silver and two that qualified as bronze, as per my point system that helps me to keep the pens entered into perspective. It was difficult to judge those that made it to the finals.

    I don't have that many points, or I would award each one with the amount listed as such. I have put each pen into the order I believe I would have awarded each pen, if it were a perfect world and I could do so:

    GOLD:
    1st - Philosopher's Cube
    2nd - And the Winner Is...
    3rd - The North Star

    SILVER:
    1st - The Philosophy of Truth
    2nd - The Inevitable Dark

    BRONZE:
    1st - Oh Thoughts
    2nd - Strong Words

    All of you did a great job, speaking to those of you who did not make the finals, and I thank you all for participating in this contest as I enjoyed reading each and every pen entered.

    So until we meet again, merry part my friends...and Write On!

    Blessed Be!

    Oh my, this contest calls to my spirit, once an audacious person penned a tribute to the very terrorists that held our country hostage with their cowardly, murderous, machinations of innocent lives, including the death of a friends 8 year old child, I asked the poetess to please consider that relatives still grieved, even though we are all entitled to our own heroes, she told me she knew the truth because she had seen a channel 4 documentry, then set her lawyer guy friend to message me, oh my, the Truth is out there, it can be coloured and squawked by birds with bats in the belfry, who pretend they are in Africa aiding children despite posting several poems and running several contests at the same time, I saw off her lawyer friend because I spoke the Truth and she, she is a goddamn fool if she doesn't realize that others will marry up the time she says was spent aiding others when she was , in actuality, in cloud cuckoo land, posting and boasting of her aid, yes, I was suckered, I worked hard to promote her writes and contests and all along it was a sham, I am not ashamed to have been played for a fool, for my motives were pure, but I am ashamed that she doesn't know the truth from her remote control ego, Truth is everything, a lie is just an alibi, an alibi is the truth of the lie. He know's.

    Even if you choose not to decide,
    You still have made a choice,
    He followed through the whole ride,
    He heard your mistake's and heard your voice,
    He know's that you couldn't decide,
    so when you go,
    He will know,
    And you're all his,
    He won't even have to insist.
