Write about "Since Feelings is First" (an ee cummings poem that changed my life), and explain what it means to you.
or
write about, "The More Loving One" (a poem by WH Auden that changed my life), and explain what this poem means to you.
I would like at least 15 entries. I trust enough people like these poets, so it should not be a problem.
Write about one of two poems that I have selected by these poets.
The More Loving One
by W. H. Auden
Looking up at the stars, I know quite well
That, for all they care, I can go to hell,
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast.
How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.
Admirer as I think I am
Of stars that do not give a damn,
I cannot, now I see them, say
I missed one terribly all day.
Were all stars to disappear or die,
I should learn to look at an empty sky
And feel its total dark sublime,
Though this might take me a little time.
since feeling is first
by ee cummings
since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world
my blood approves,
and kisses are a far better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry
--the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says
we are for eachother: then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph
And death i think is no parenthesis

I haven't been around like I used to be, but it's great to see a contest like this from you!
I am very partial to the W.H. Auden poem, as I think you know. I'm bookmarking...if my muse will cooperate at all, I'll be entering...That's a BIG "if"
...but we'll see.
Good luck, and I hope you get some awesome entries!
