Hey all.
I'm really enjoying all the amazing word bank entries that I am getting in my other contests
so I decided to run another one... only this time, you get to choose the words (following some guidelines of course).
So, just before we begin, I want you to use ALL 14 words that you will end up with - I also want you to place them ALL in your AUTHOR NOTES along with your username. Thankyou.
Included in your poem should be:
Five (5) Colours: clearly you will do better if you choose 'ochre' or 'russet' instead of 'red'.
Two (2) Months: pretty self-evident.
Two (2) Emotions: yes, you can have happy and sad, but there are other words out there that will sound better - and the words have to be named, if you say 'the whole tone of the poem was sad' I won't accept it.
One (1) Gender-based word: for example, feminine, masculinity, girl, boy, lady, man, femme fatale... you get the idea.
Three (3) Plant/Animal words: there are combinations here - one animal and two plants, two animals and one plant, all animal, all plant... things like 'vegetation' which is general, work just as well as 'blue backed, spiny tailed, red nosed, chicken legged badger' (or something else that is preferably real but with a really long name) which is specific. Scientific names are also good.
And because that makes 13 words (and we all know how unlucky that is
) I want you to make the last word your favorite word - and even if you think I will know this favorite word, I want you to add a definition in your author notes as well.
Easy isn't it?
~~~
Because two other contests I held (both deleted, one called Ballade and one called Schizophrenia) had produced limited (or to be completely honest - crap) entries, I hold the right to extend this contest for as long as necessary to find someone deserving of gold - I will add points and honourable mentions as I see fit.
To have a chance at winning this contest, please observe the following simple rules:
1. Erotica is fine - however label it as such.
2. No wrist-slashing or dirty pretty - unless you can make it brilliant and uncliched.
3. Swearing is alright… however please don't go overboard.
4. If you choose to write in chat lingo or sticky caps then that is up to you… but I warn you that it does detract from the poem, and therefore lowers your chance of winning.
5. Please use spell-check - this is important... it detracts from the poem if I have to stop at every second line for them - this includes titles.
6. There are NO LIMITS on how many times you can enter however, prewrites are not allowed.
7. Commenting on the other entries is a nice thing to do, and in this contest, if you don't - you won't be eligible for judging and your entry will be disqualified. No bashing of other poets. For this purpose you will be required to place your name in your author notes so I can keep a record of how much you have commented. There will be an additional point reward for the person I think provided the best comments.
8. Poetry can be in any form - as long as it is poetry.
9. I have a new pet hate... the one thing I cannot stand when reading poetry... people that get 'your' and 'you're' mixed up. If you do this I will remove your poem from this contest without warning.
I hope to see some wonderfully creative poetry!
