Yourself (or the love of your life) as a facade of a building

I feel very uneasy in my home. I agreed to live here and everyone else is happy but, in almost 9 years, I still find the house makes me uneasy. Please tell me what sort of a home you are - tall, thin, short, fat, happy, sad, elegant, cottagey, homely, etc etc but use the building and its appearance as a reference point. I think that buildings are a bit like people and also have a sort of emotional life - I'll post an example to show what I think of myself..... and also the sort of building (person) in which I would feel at home.....

So, this is me:

Photo shows
short fat thirties semi
yet in my dreams
in my head
I am tall
made of pale gold
english brick
and elegant
of georgian proportions
I wish to be not photographed
but sketched in pencil
on 250 gramme watercolour paper
smudged and merely suggested
in fine line
and perfect coloured
edifice
with a small curlicew
around the front porch

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on March 18, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50
  • Final notes:
Oh hell's teeth - this was the hardest contest to judge. The entries were so uniformly good and interesting. I'd like to hon mench Brickwork for being the only 'love of my life' poem ... It would have been interesting to have a few more of those. Another contest maybe... I'd like to single out 'Home' for making me feel most content as I read it. Thank you. But thanks to you all. xx chilli xx
