I'm away in South Africa for two weeks, so I'm leaving it open whilst I'm gone, hoping to see loads more amazing entries. Don't let me down
So, I'm reading this amazing book called White Oleander. I haven't watched the movie, but I don't intend to, because I'm enjoying the book immensely, and don't want it ruined. (No, I have no faith in Hollywood)
But yes, back on topic - this book is awesomly narrated, and has interesting characters. These are the quotes that have come to mind so far, off the top of my head. I will be adding more, so come back and check if there's nothing here that catches your eye.
First of all - please tell me which quote that has inspired you. Otherwise, you have pretty much free reign, and take your entry wherever you will.
(Number of HMs will increase, but for the sake of my obsessive nature, it stays with 5 overall awards until judging)
Also, if you have an issue with punctuation (yes, I honestly have had complaints) then just remember these are DIRECT QUOTES. I'd put in question marks and such, but it's not my piece of literature, so I won't.

It doesn't have to be a copy of the quote. You just use the quote for inspiration as long as the quote is what evoked it, we're good.

I watched the movie one day last summer when no one was home. It was definatly...interesting. But it was good, so don't be afraid to watch. I might just enter if I'm moved enough.

Janet Finch is an amazing novelist. If you get the chance you should pick up a copy of Paint it Black. It's even better than White Oleander. Seriously.
Yeah, don't watch the movie. It's actually a good movie, just is a let down if you read the book.

I've heard that SO many times, but also that the title doesn't make sense if you haven't read the book... but I brushed past Paint it Black, contemplated getting it, but I've been meaning to get White Oleander for quite a while, so I settled with it. Paint it Black is next on my list though!¬

Yeah-- the movie only glosses over many of the more important parts of the book.
Let me know what you think of Paint it Black... the worst part of the book is getting that dang Rolling Stones song out of your head. LOL -

To put a long story short -
Main characther is Astrid. Her mother, Ingrid, is a poet, with her own beliefs and ways of life. Ingrid poisons her lover, and Astrid has to go to foster care. She lives in a few homes, and a lot of difficult situations. Her mother still tries to manipulate her through letters from prison. And I don't do the book justice, but it's simply amazing.

"White Oleander" is a wonderful book. You're right, don't see the movie If you're enjoying that book, I suggest you also read "She's Come Undone", by Wally Lamb.
