Welcome to my contest!
For those of you who know me, you are aware I haven't been writing much lately. My muse seems to have abandoned me, angry at some of my choices the past few months.
So I'm in the mood to read great poetry!!! Please, inspire me!
I'm not big on rules but I have to give a few:
*No sTiCkY cApS or chat lingo - it's just annoying!
*Watch your spelling and grammar.
*Please try to make it good. I like poetry rich with metaphors and vivid imagery. I prefer free-verse and non-rhyming, but I have included form as an option.
*You may reserve a spot if you feel it is necessary.
Now, for what we all really care about:
OPTIONS:
1. Write about a sunrise. Make it original.
2. I have often been compared to a Phoenix. This idea fascinates me. Write about a Phoenix. Or a Meteorite.
3. Now I'm just being conceited. Write a poem about me.
LOL. You get bonus points for this one!
4. Write something inspirational. Convince me there is reason to hope.
5. I have a darker side. I love darker poetry. Write about depression, abuse, suicide, whatever misery you can dwell on.
6. Write about something abrupt and violent, like a volcanic eruption or an explosion.
7. Be inspired by a song, movie, or other work of art. Be sure to include the name of the inspiration in your author's notes.
8. Write about your favorite taste.
9. Erotica. Give me some good stuff! I want you to make me crave it! I don't mind explicit erotica in the least bit.
10. Write a poem inspired by a photograph. Try www.photosig.com- or write about the act of taking a photograph. If you can, include the photograph.
11. Write about something historical - an event, person, or place. You are my time machine - transport me.
12. I love drama. Write about an argument, fight, falling out, breakup, affair - you know... drama! Jerry Springer anyone?
13. Psychology. Be inspired by psychology.
14. Mental disorders. If you have a mental disorder or know someone who has a mental disorder, describe it, tell me what it's like to live with it. How does it feel?
15. Nature. Trees, mountains, rivers, the ocean... make me long for the great outdoors.
16. The seasons. Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer - write about any or all.
17. Write in a strict form. Any form. Include information about it.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 16, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Oh my goodness! This was the most difficult contest to judge EVER!
I seriously got a little stressed over this one.
All of the entries were just AMAZING! The top six were incredibly difficult to place in order... any one of them could have one gold! I read and re-read those top six several times, finally settling on this order for many reasons, including form, use of poetic and literary devices such as metaphor, amount of research completed and work put into the poem, and level of difficulty.
I enjoyed every poem and thank you all so much for entering! I sincerely hope you all enter my next contest (prompt inspired).
Congratulations to the winners!
