Life is a game! Get it?....No you don't. Just Come Look.

Good day, AP’ers.

This is a contest! Ooooo.
With a theme, too! Aren’t you lucky?

This is how the theme came about:
Lately, I have noticed that in the past few months almost everyone I know is either pregnant, getting pregnant or has just given birth. Not too long ago, I was even lucky enough to literally get dragged in (with FORCE   and without really wanting to be THAT lucky [[rolls eyes]] ) into the delivery room with one of my friends whilst she was giving birth! It was a life time experience, filled with so much noise and celebration and gross stuff, too. But hey! Now there’s a female addition to the population and besides thinking it was gross, I also thought it was lovely!

Also, let’s consider the time of the year. Winter is nearing the end of its course and the last few snow storms are a closing act and a farewell song! The trees have been made naked and ready to welcome a new leaf gown; the grass has been shattered to be replaced by greener, brighter lawns. That being said, I don’t think I have to go into further detail; you probably know what types of poems we’re looking for now. Birth! Rebirth, even!   New life! The wonder, the joy, the drama! The on and on and etc   and blah blah.

HOWEVER!

It doesn’t have to be child birth; No, not at all. Let’s think outside the box. As a matter of fact, it can be about ANYTHING as long as it ties in somehow to a “beginning” theme.   A new beginning, continuing an old beginning…. Whatever!   Surprise us and we’ll surprise YOU at the end with a little bit of something!

Moreover, even though I have stated that you can write about anything, please don’t write anything that will make us want to knock each other cold before having to read another sadistic word. Dark poetry is welcome, I don’t care to hear about suicide unless you can somehow make it tasteful and tie it to the theme by, like…. I don’t know, reincarnating back into a flower after killing yourself because your boyfriend dumped you. Just be careful when you tread that area.

We want imagery! Don’t forget to include intense poetic device that will keep your poem resonating in our head!

A no no:

Roses die in the cold
life loses its bold
But look being the mold
a new rose replaces the old. .

I’ve been very lenient with my past contests. Even though I’d ask for specifically themed poems, I’d get poetry about everything BUT the theme. This time I WILL seriously DQ your bum out if I feel your poem no how relates to this contest!

We have added an additional /on the side fun game for you. 200 points will be given to the winner.

Hello, and welcome back to Darianna's eyespy. it's a side puzzle which has nothing really to do with the contest my dear neice is hosting...

So here we go. Eye spy with my little eye, something beginning with...   R

Clue One:  So far away and alone.

Clue Two:  Regarding defences.
Clue Three:  You're so controlling!
Clue Four:  chances are unlikely!

It’s your job to investigate what word this Spy spies. Clues will be given out sporadically to make guessing easier. You’ll be asked to put the word in your author’s notes. ONE WORD PER POEM…. (notice the caps? Yeah? Oh, you better heed that then, or we suddenly grow fangs. Grr)

You might write a horrible poem but guess the word correctly! If so, that’s a free 200 points for you, sir!
So please enjoy and have fun! Make sure you check the contest every day for the new clue.

  P.S

You may enter as many poems as you’d like, but you can only enter one prewritten poem if you choose to use that option.   More than one prewrite is a free pass to a “You no longer qualify for this contest” party! Whohoo. Confetti included!

THE S WORD FROM THE FIST EYESPY WAS GUESSED BY THE POET: Kathryn Bowden.

The word was SALT!

Congrats :)

Good luck on guessing the R word, kids.

1                     – 300 Points
1                     – 200 points
1                      –100 points
1    2        – 30 Points each.

I Spy Game      – 200 points
LIFE!                  – Priceless

OH! And as far as I’m concerned, babies come from storks, so no in depth sex poems. OK? Ok.

If you have any questions or concerns, we’ll be more than happy to address them!

Get working, mates! And Enjoy!

Preganancy? That is one subject I tend to stay away from, both in poetry and prose. I'm more of the aunt type.

      Not necessarily pregnancy, no.
      A beginning, new life. Etc.
