I'm sure you can find something to write about there. When I'm judging, I'll be looking for something that takes the quote and makes it more than just the quote to me. I want something with emotion and/or story to back it up. I honestly do not like rhyme at all, though there are a few that can pull it off. If you feel you are exceptional, then give it a shot. I will comment on every poem, and I'll be honest about what I think. I try to get rid of bias as much as I can, and I do look at literary techniques.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 6, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100
- Final notes: I definitely was looking for someone who followed the prompt and used both creativity and expansion. I didn't mind something different than the direct prompt, but I expected to see all aspects of it somehow incorporated into it.
Gold goes to the poem "Concoctions of Placebo Love" because the writer took the prompt and made a story of it, made it their own, kept every aspect of it, and the lines were poetic and interesting.
Silver goes to "Death Murmur". I chose this poem because of the strong meaning behind it as well as the fact that many of the lines stood out to me and were memorable. Although maybe slightly dark, the context was well-written and the meaning was impacting. I also liked the style it was written in. It broke away from conventional style, and there was thought behind the layout.
Bronze goes to "Desire or You". I found this poem interesting due to the way it was written. Desire was repeated and used to sum up exactly what it was, and I found it interesting how you could see the narrator struggle with it. The concept of the poem intrigued me, and the last line is quotable.
