In some churches they are being taught the theory that John was talking about the times he lived in when he wrote the book of Revelations. Others feel that the end times is in the future. In other words Armagaedon has not yet arrived. I do prefer that Christian groups enter into this contest. This requires thought and perhaps you would like to use a prose style to describe what you think John is saying in the book of Revelations. If it rhymes it will not be discounted but I want that to be really good. This is more or less what do you believe thing. I do not want any bashing of anyone's belief. It is inappropiate here. I want the poets to be comfortable in this contest. If it warrants I may extend the contest until I get some really good entries. Depending on how many I get will determine points given. Think of this if you will as a Bible Study. No sticky caps, no Internet speak, no profanity. If you do not belong to Place Of Prayer or Faith Seekers im me with your piece as this is not limited to these groups but I really do not want a piece about demonology unless it fits with the theme of Revelations. Please use spell check, there are great pieces that stand out but are understated if there are a lot of misspelled words. You will be given an opportunity to edit. It was pointed out that the book is called Revelation and indeed that is what it is called in many bibles. The King James version states Revelation The Book by John. However I did edit it to state that, even though John had more than one revelation. So if you think you have a piece that might be interesting here and a point of view do so. I really don't want others bashing a particular viewpoint because there are others who see what is revealed in this book in different ways. Different is not necessary wrong. There have been many books written about Revelation and films as well.

Interesting contest. I don't know how poetic individuals can be as they write on this subject. I was once in a Bible study group where we read and worked through the entire book. There is so much imagery and strange descriptions of events. Still, this is quite thought provoking. I hope you get many wonderful entries!

Too bad you are not taking pre-writes. I have one that would fit.

Okay I corrected it.
Danna I corrected it and so you can enter your piece. I thought about allowing each to enter more than one piece but want to see what we get. Carolyn I was in a bible study during the seventies at a Baptist church. We had chapters from the book of Revelations last year in the Methodist church that I attend. There is quite a difference in the beliefs. -
Thanks to all.
The top three trophy winners were contenders for the gold. So I selected them in random order. Each of you should feel proud of your work. I could not let the contest end without giving all points and Honorable Mentions. Each poem was very good and written well. It was tough to decide but decide I must. I will be hosting another contest soon. -
Many thaks for the bronze.
