Give me reason for hope

It's been three months since she broke my heart. Three months since she broke up with me, and little more than a week since she made it clear that she didn't want to be friends with me. She made it clear in the most painful way I can imagine, it struck me as arrogant and patronizing.

I can fake laughter these days, and smiles are pretty trivial. What I cannot fake is hope. I want you to write a poem that gives me hope for the future - for my future.

Okay, now for the rules:

1 No mixed case in within words.
2 Check your spelling and grammar. If your spelling and grammar looks horrible, you won't have a chance at winning.
3 It has to be a poem, not an essay.
4 No cliches.

Any topic is fair game so long as it addresses the topic and follows these rules.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on March 9, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 420
  • Final notes:
I didn't get nearly as many entries as I had hoped for this, but thanks to everyone who entered. I particularly liked the message in Believe in hope about how important friendship is in hope, and I agree with it, so this poem gets first place.

As for second place, I agreed with the message of Memories and I hope that I can one day remember this romance fondly, but I'm afraid that'll take a lot of healing before that happens.

Third place goes to Broken and Healed which describes how I felt and how I feel quite well. It was a very good personification of the situation I'm in right now.

    Perhaps.

Perhaps she had to be very clear and you know while you have a broken heart. I have no doubt that you do, you may find that this breakup was the best thing. Later on when you meet that person who will love you without question and treat you like the man you know you are, you will see that this woman did you a favor by setting you free to have that love of a lifetime. I have been in your position only opposite because of a man that was not right for me. Oh I cried and I came up with ways to get even with the woman that took him, but you know if it was that easy to let me go, then what use was he to me. I did find the love of my life and that man committed to me. It has lasted almost 30 years. It is there poet and I hope that you get some really good poems to show you this. It is hard to believe now but believe that it will.

Wow... I have a prewrite that would totally fit, from when the first person I loved broke my heart... I'll link you to it, if you need something semi-uplifting! I hope you get the entries you're looking for.

      Late reply, but

Sure, I'd be interested in seeing your poem. I may end up opening this up to prewrites in a few days since I'm not getting all that many entries here.

    Country Cousin ...

is 100 per cent right in this instance. Forget her. Find somebody else, quit thinking about her and get on with the rest of your life. There's a myriad of grains of sand on the seashore. Go be a beachcomber.

Ok, I saw the contest and was curious. I can't think of anything to write, but I'm sorry about your situation. Let your friends help you. There are other people out there who will love you. THe right one is just waiting. You'll find her someday, I know it.
