This is a new contest for those poets who love to be inspired by interesting titles. Our group may be found at:
http://allpoetry.com/group/Titles%20Are%20Us
but you do not have to be a group member to enter this contest.
This group will be given five titles each week and it won't be a requirement to write for all of them or any of them if none of the titles reach out to you.
I have chosen five poems by Robert Frost.
TITLES:
1) Fire and Ice
2) Love and a Question
3) In a Disused Graveyard
4) Storm Fear
5) Once by the Pacific
We would like to see imagery, metaphor, simile, personification, most importantly, some lovely reading from your imaginations.
You may choose any form; rhyme, free verse, any style that is ten lines or more, BUT less than forty lines.
Rules:
*THE TITLE MUST BE AS I HAVE STATED IT, NO VARIATIONS FROM IT AT ALL. BECAUSE ALL THE POETS WILL BE USING THE SAME TITLES WE ASK FOR YOUR SCREEN NAME IN THE AUTHOR'S NOTES SO THAT WE MAY KEEP THE POEMS STRAIGHT.
*NO BASHING AT ALL OR YOU WILL BE DQ'd IMMEDIATELY, THAT MEANS IN THE CONTENTS OF THE POEM OR IN COMMENTS TO OTHERS IN THE CONTEST.
*NO STICKY CAPS OR CHAT LINGO, THAT IS A BIG NO-NO ALSO!
*NO CUTTING, SUICIDE, SWEARING, OR ANYTHING OF A DEROGATORY NATURE WILL BE USED HERE. YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF KICKED TO THE CURB FASTER THAN YOU CAN BAT AN EYELASH.
*NO EROTICA - TASTEFULLY SENSUAL IS ALLOWED
*SPELLING IS IMPORTANT AND THEY HAVE A SPELL CHECK IN HERE (PLEASE USE IT).

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 9, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 600, Silver: 400, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Joyce and I thank each of the participants for their wonderful interpretations of Frost's titles. Each poet brought a unique perspective and style which made it very difficult for us to chose a favorite.
The gold trophy was awarded to a poem that was serene and thoughtful.
The silver trophy went to a poem that vibrated off the page with passion and youthful enthusiasm.
The bronze trophy was for a poem that was filled with breathtaking imagery.
We added three honorable mentions because there were three additional poems that we wanted to honor for their depth and wording.
If you are not members of our Title Are Us group and would like to join, here is the link:

We look forward to seeing all of you in our next contest which will be posted soon.

Do you expect entries in the style of Robert Frost, or are entrants free to use the title only for inspiration?
