I would like you to write a poem which is a conversation between two contrasting beings. That is where the personification part comes in. You must give your choices distinctive voices. So you should end up with a sort of debate between the two. I read a poem once called "An Exchange Between the Fingers and the Toes", but unfortunately I cannot find it on the internet. It is a conversation between the fingers and the toes, and it ends with the toes saying:
"Despite your fabrications, and your cunning
Man's deepest instinct is expressed in running."
You could have the conversation as verse for verse, or put forward one side first, then reply with the other. Points will be awarded for good poetic construction, and debates which have some sort of point, rather than simply confused ramblings. I don't mind blasphemy or obscenity as long as it is poetically perfect.
1. The Sun and the Moon
2. Life and Death
3. Love and Hate
4. Innocence and Experience
5. Education and Ignorance
6. Pleasure and Pain
7. Poetry and Prose
8. An Elephant and a Flea
9. Youth and Old Age
10. Winter and Spring
These ten examples should give you the general idea. You may, of course, prefer to think of your own.
You may enter more than once should you wish to do so. Let's see some imaginative ideas.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 9
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: Rather a disappointingly low entry, and few entries which really got well into the possibilities of the subject. I've gone for Dialogue between Youth and Wisdom because I think it comes closest to an actual conversation, and it has something meaningful to say about the two ends of the spectrum.
I wasn't too keen on Im to begin with, but it deserves recognition for its cleverness, and its annoyance value.
The Wedding and the Devil grows on you. And it's not in the first language of the writer, I suspect.
The Colour of the Sun is an excellent poem and deserves something. I was just a little unsure of its status as a conversation/personification.
Land and Sea is a good idea, and makes a pertinent environmental comment.
Thanks to all entrants. Best Wishes.
