Do feel encouraged to enter and write in the fashion and style of Robert Frost. Choose the poem of his that you wish to emulate or are inspired by. Do not write on Frost's theme but certainly effect his folksy, philosophical wisdom. It is wise to base your imagery, perhaps informing metaphor, on Nature. Like Frost's poems, you must end in reflecting imagistically or philosophically on human nature! Good luck. Minimum of 20 lines.
[Honorable Mentions may or may not be given.]
Finally, it is paramount that you place the link to the Frost poem you are fixing your attention upon in your notes.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 14, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 2590
- Final notes: Both ea and Lyndon were at one in awarding Gold to "Staggered Lanes".
We did not award further trophies or honorable mention.
Mainly, this is because thematic choices; Frost's style and philosophical bent are very difficult to emulte. Winklings attempt to give credit where credit is due. We hope trophies from us are valued enough for you to have a Winklings trophy collection.
ea and I agreed on some poems that stood above others and they include:
"A Poet's Poet"; "Nature's Inconstancy" and "Some Ponderings on the Desert" in that order.
ea is not a Winkling, but dare I say it, she is a Winkling at heart! Thank you dear Marcy. Ron.
Lastly, all poems were a pleasure to read. I have seen far worse than all poems here gain Gold in other places!
