Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on February 26
  • Rewards: Gold: 2000, Silver: 1000, Bronze: 500, Honorable mention: 1 people
  • Final notes:
Across 11 contests, hundreds of poems, many simply stunning, Sue and I have had a great deal of pleasure.
We wanted to look at everything together and see which were, in out opinion, the best of all. Not everyone entered this round up but we went back and read their poems anyway. The gold and silver positions were not affected but there were two other poems that would have rivalled the bronze. We can of course though only award those who entered.
First is a simply brilliant sonnet, by our overall winner, stunning internal rhyme and other devices add to what is a beautiful poem on its own,
Next we have two very different "picture" poems Sonja's deeply metaphorical Garden of love is improved by now having a worthy title, and I could happily read it every day. Jimmy's "Free Spirit" knocked me over when I first read it, it still does.
Finally Ecrivain's personalisation of the events of the 11th of September, is heartbreaking as well as being beautifully worked.
I wish I had written all of these poems.

We both agreed with the rankings, and Sue wishes to be associated with all the Is above.
