Legend has it that Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in only six words. His response? "For sale: baby shoes, never worn."
Last year, SMITH Magazine re-ignited the recountre by asking readers for their own six-word memoirs. They sent in short life stories in droves, from the bittersweet ("Cursed with cancer, blessed with friends") and poignant ("I still make coffee for two") to the inspirational ("Business school? Bah! Pop music? Hurrah") and hilarious ("I like big butts, can't lie").
In my creative writing class in school, we has to write a 6 word memoir. There are no rules other than it having to make sense and be only 6 words. No more, no less. I wrote one and thought it was so much fun that I would make a contest out of it!

Hemingway was a great inspiration to me in my earlier days! Great Contest! -
the video was really enjoyable and lighthearted even though some of the memoirs were very deep and nostalgic....I think the pictures actually detract from some of the more serious lines (everyone who loved me is dead, i still make coffee for two), though in some they enhance it- (not a good christian but im trying, 14 yrs old story still untold)but im guessing these were added by the spin doctors not the writers?
