Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 25, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 600, Silver: 300, Bronze: 150, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: We’ve come to the end of a very, very enjoyable musical instrument series. Both Guy and I were extremely impressed with the life music we’ve had the privilege to read in these three contests. We had a real hard time judging the three contests but that was just because the quality of entries was of a very high standard. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to each and every person who entered music into our contests – well done, poets! We might do this again at a later stage!
The winners for this contest are:
Gold to Allyce May for “I’ll Go To The Foot Of Our Stairs – Part 3”
Silver to Karamel Kandy for “strings: finger music”
Bronze to mimiagatha for “Duet”
HM’s to: flight for “the pair” and Cinnarry for “Neon”
Congratulations to the winners, but also to everyone who participated – we loved your poetry and wish we could award each and everyone – sighs! Thank you…!

Ooohhh...I LOVE the mandolin. Ever since Rod Stewart's song, "Mandolin Wind", let alone Heart...if not from even before birth.
Thank you both for hosting. Good luck to all who enter. Be well, Poets & Scribes.

I love the mandolin too... and don't you just love the sound of "balalaika" - I love that word
. Thank you, my friend - for everything. And hey, you said I can muse, and you will write - didn't we make a deal on that one
-
-
cellos
i love cellos
....
-
-
then you have to write that love affair, Danni....

what happened to guitar?
my brother plays the guitar... and he's amazing
-
-
If he plays guitar like you write poetry, then he must be amazing, Namita. We decided to use "different" instruments, but we might have a guitar contest lately. You know Guy is a songwriter and musician (guitarist), don't you?
-
-
me = speck
he = galaxy
me = dust
he = diamond
so he's very very very talented! and wow, Guy's a music guy? (lol) that's great!
nakul is a malayalam lyricist and also a composer and guitarist! maybe they two can meet... lol
I tried to play the guitar once, but it was too tough for me, lol. So I went for piano! -
-
Jaa..we can hold a music and poetry meeting between the 4 of us - wow!!
lolol, I have a Yamaha guitar too - it stands in the corner, looking at me, asking "play me"
. I'm better with the piano too (and keyboards) BUT that doesn't mean I'm good, lolol!! I'll leave the guitar playing to Guy
My son is a very good at the piano - better than his mom, lol. And I'm sure you are very very good, Namita!!
-
-
yes, we can! it'll be great!
lol- why don't you stop ignoring his pleas and play?
most of the poetic people are music-ish, and most of the music people are poet-ish lol.
and about piano... not really good
i try! i started learning when i was about ummm 7 or 8... 5 long years (lol) i like playing it! nakul wants to hear me play nostalgia (yanni's) so i try my best
i'm doing the 5th grade in piano next year! so i'm excited!!
-
-
Oh great - then you're good already if you're play 5th grade next, Namita. I think my ear for music is better than my hands, lol.
hey...look at the top of the contest page....
-
-
lol...
and wow!!! thank you!
- thanks, Guy!
-
-
I think guitar should be here - thanks for reminding me, Namita.

lolol, Sonja!! choices, choices.... yes, live coals. Hope you'll be able to pick one

I am writing a piece about a friendship I had... except it is disguised. My friend played the cello and I use this two or three times... But ultimately it is not the theme of the poem. (The poem has several themes, the sun, breakfasts and the cello) Do you think it could work here?
Good luck anyway. -
-
It's hard to say without having read the poem but we did say "take these instruments wherever you want to". We would prefer metaphorical poems and not really poems about the instrument per se. If you think your poem fits those requirements, then you are more than welcome to post it. Take a chance!
-
-
Ok, I'll post it! I finished it adding more music vocabulary (thanks for the prompt, I was rather stuck halfway through!)
Please DQ me if it doesn't fit with what you want.
Hope you have fun hosting this

Hooray! I entered!

That was really fun to write, I got so inspired in the end. Thanks for the great contest and the comment on my poem!
-
so why not add the violin? it's soft, gentle, and lurring.
-
:(
tried to enter with 2 poems (not forbidden in the rules) and both disappeared. any way to get them back? (last time it happened in another contest, the contest owner opened it for a short period to "pre-writes"). -
-
Joe, although the rules don't state it, the system only allows one poem per person. Please enter again, my friend.

Grinding on an idea
