Welcome to my first ever contest! I am getting married in May this year. With the help of the groom and officiant, we are trying to write out the ceremony and wedding vows. I think it would be fun to see what those of you out in AP think about marriage.
Since we are writing out our own ceremony, it would be good to have inspiration.
So....
What does marriage mean to you?
How would you write your own non-standard wedding vows?
What are the good and bad aspects about marriage?
What positive things to help would you tell two people that are about to get married?
How did you feel the day you were married?
I like poems that are out of the ordinary and really bring forth that true emotion behind what is written.

- Contest was judged on February 19, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: Thank you for everyone that entered my wedding/marriage contest. It was my very first contest and I really enjoyed each piece that you entered. In my own wedding ceremony and vows that I am writing, I used some of the themes I encountered in your poetry, such as friendship and love winning out over adversity. Thank you all for the inspiration and congratulations to the winners of the contest!

Can we enter more than once? I've been married for 23 years, and I have at least one other poem of interest on the subject.

Congratulations and Wishes for Much happiness and love
My husband and I were united on 26 Dec 2007, I have entered the poem I wrote that evening. We wrote our own celebration for our hand fast and I am now so glad we did as it was something uniquely ours. Our vow is on my profile page here I hope it inspires. -

Thank you for the wishes and congratulations to you too. We are thinking of adding a hand fasting element into our wedding as well. We want a civil ceremony that is meaningful.
