Remember to help out your teammates as much as possible. The losing team will lose TWO poets.

YOU MUST write at least 10 lines, but not more than 25. If you go over, you will lose one whole point from each judge. [So you would lose 3 points total].

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on February 12, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 300, Honorable mention: 9 people
  • Final notes:
    Hey guys,
this was a great round. Overall, the entries were really strong and profound. Because all of you made the top 12, all of you have been rewarded at least HM for this round. 12 poets currently stand; 5 poets for Metaphormosis, and 7 poets for Symbolicosis. Which team came out with the win? Here are the results…

    [[Metaphormosis]]
    Asfand: [27.8]
    9.5 - 9.2 - 9.1
    flatline: [27.3]
    9.3 - 9.0 - 9.0
    Lucy Sky-diamond [24.3]
    8.3 - 7.6 - 8.4
    Tam Lin: [23.8]
    8.0 - 7.8 - 8.0
    Dark Whispers: [23.3]
    8.2 - 7.6 - 7.5

    Average score for Metaphormosis: 25.3

    [[Symbolicosis]]
    Catauthor: [27.4]
    9.2 - 8.9 - 9.3
    Raazi: [26.6]
    9.1 - 8.8 - 8.7
    olly olly oxen free: [26.1]
    8.8 - 8.6 - 8.7
    Ah.Sosha: [25.4]
    8.5 - 8.4 - 8.5
    rockerchkpoet: [25.1]
    8.5 - 8.3 - 8.3
    She Has My Heart: [24.9]
    8.7 - 7.8 - 8.4
    Lostintheshadows33: [22.4]
    8.1 - 7.1 - 7.2

    Average score for Symbolicosis: 25.4

As you can see, Metaphormosis has the lowest average score, therefore they are the losing team. The bottom two for Metaphormosis are

    Dark Whispers
    [12th place]

    and

    Tam Lin
    [11th place]

Both of you are blessed to have such ingenious ideas and creativity. Never stop writing, and keep on going with it. You both have very special talent. Good luck outside of the contest.

Ten of you remain…and all ten of you have made it to the MERGE. This is when both teams merge into one group of individuals. Eliminations will work differently; now, everything that has happened in the past will be weighted in when you are in the bottom three. Most importantly, it’s now every man for himself.

Next round should be posted within the hour. I will send the link via group IM.

Hahaha is it just me, or am I merely skating by here?

Anyway, interesting prompt. I'm looking forward to being inspired.

It's possible, but you have worked for it, and earned your way here. Even if you're just crawling, you're still improving; and that's most important.

Haha, that's true, that's true. As I was looking at the scores last night, I was sure I was done. I was thinking, damn, I'm done but at least I went out with a fight. Having yet another chance to improve was really a blessing. Hopefully I won't merely scrape by yet again!!

Try not to scrape by, but try to aim for #1. I know you can do it. Like I said

"Being creative, fluent, concise, cohesive and passionate is key"

If you do that, you should do well; even if you end up being eliminated.

          Good luck.

I'm gonna join the low self-esteem club here...

Once I think I'm improving there's always something else to work on. One step forward, two back.

Thats true. I am a strong believer in the saying "Everything happens for a reason". Maybe it's because this next round I will be extremely inspired and write something absolutely beautiful. The sun will come out, the birds will sing... haha okay maybe not so much =]
